UE Boom Bluetooth Speaker
« on: April 30, 2014, 09:13:24 PM »
Hi Swaggers,

I recently purchased a UE Boom Bluetooth Speaker and find it to be absolutely brilliant for camping.
You just pair your media device up to it using bluetooth and you can listen to your favourite music or radio station. It has really good sound quality and is a robust little speaker that can take a bit of abuse.

I was looking to install a stereo in the Trackabout but it didn't look as easy as I first thought. So started looking for different options.

Used it for the first time over Easter when camping up at Mildura and must say we were stoked with how the speaker worked. We listened to the footy using the Tunein Radio App as well as listened to music through Mog music app and everyone that heard it was super impressed. Just a really clear sound when turned up loud with no distortion at all. The battery lasts for ages and can be charged in a USB port or by 240v.

I just thought it was worth a mention and might be of interest to some. :D

Agree with you there Swogjb. That was why I didn't pay the dollars for the radio/CD player to be installed. To easy with the wireless speakers these days.......

Also agree we recently purchased the same for the exact same reason. The sound the UE Boom puts out is just amazing.

When I first saw one..... I must admit I wasn't expecting to much.
Was very surprised

I narrowed it down to UE Boom and Bose Soundlink mini.
The Bose unit looked pretty good as well.

Thanks for the tip Swojb bought one yesterday! Had been looking for something to replace our old Sony portable speakers that finally died but there is so much out there now I was not sure what was crap and what actually worked.  Set it up yesterday at home and its awesome, just what I was after.

Funny, I was looking at these lately too, guy here in camp with the UE boom and another with the JBL version which looks and sounds very similar, but after playing with them I went for the UE BoomBox, which is bigger but sounds muuuch bigger, I'm using it in a fixed location most of the time so not worried about the small package of the little cylinders. The Boombox is similar in size to the full size Bose soundlink.

Timely post thanks mate, were at present sorting this out and found this today, so good tip from ya, I little expensive but if its as good as you say then money well spent.

We plan on using like you have, but also running our nano on it also.

Yeh my 16 year old bought himself one about a year ago and I just bought one for the missus   >:D

She loves it too  ;D

Seriously though - we do now have 2 and they are truly brilliant. You can even pair them up for surround sound as Punter mentions. They're Awesome!

they were $129 including delivery a couple of weeks ago at Logitech shop. Gone up a bit now but still good value.

Got mine today after surprisingly quick delivery. Now I'm known for being reasonably fussy about sound quality and would rather not listen if it's going to sound rubbish. I can say I'm extremely impressed with this unit for its size and cost. Thanks for the heads up people :)
