happy birthday Renee, aren't you just the spoilt one.  Hope He cooked you dinner as well?

Best way to get rid of that smell is by a smokey campfire.  Bring it to Knockwood, based on the timber we're collecting, you'll be able to camp at Gafneys Creek and still be warm ( and smokey)

Ah yes a bit spoilt for his Bday he got a 12v fridge that I really thought was something I wanted so said he should get my present something he wanted which was apparently UHF but got the swag too. The pizza was great from Casablanca, still don't think we will be at knockwood.

ok, shame re knockwood. All I can offer is for you to loan your new swag to speewa for the knockwood weekend. That would get the smell out of it:-)

You could have told us last week it was your birthday. Just as well I brought the favourites. ;D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Wth my new swag, I left it outside under cover for a few days. That pvc smell went pretty quickly. Make sure you set it up to get the top of the swag off the pvc.

Oh the favourites were awesome thanks there is hardly any left I had meant to get them out after stew.  Thanks for the tip about the swag might wait till the weekend there isn't really anywhere to put it up here when we not home.  Might put it up on Andrew's ute say from Friday night as it probably wouldn't hurt if it was out at night for the canvas either.

just another tip, be careful with your cat and the new swag. Three possibilities:
1 - nothing
2 - cat thinks it's a new litter tray
3 - cat uses it to mark it's territory

Happened here with sons new tent we were seasoning on the back lawn:-)

Nice thankfully we have a female cat who doesn't mark her territory we did leave the flywire closed on it today as she thinks all things like that are her bed.  She has probably been getting high as a kite on the fumes all day lol.  Bugger about your sons tent.

Better still  you might be able to swing it off the rafters in your shed?

I think we would possibly not wake up from the smell of it and no smoke smell from indoor fire.  I can assure you I am not going to try hanging it from the shed rafters and then sleeping in it.  I know where is my sense of adventure lol.  Guess now I will have to get some pics of the other swag so we can sell it.

If you haven't seasoned it yet, Southern Cross recommend with there's to take the mattress and all the gear out of it and then throw the canvas shell in a full bath tub over night. This allows the water to penetrate the stitching fully, then just hang it on the line to dry. Presto one fully seasoned swag.

This may also assist in getting rid of your smell!

Happy Birthday!
We have the same swag and love it! The pvc smell didn't hang around for long from memory but we seasoned it straight away. We have replaced the mattress with 50mm high density foam from Clarke Rubber(it fits in the original mattress cover) and a mattress topper for extra comfort.
Cheers Kim
