ANZAC DAY - Army March out parade.

Hi Guys

Whats everyone doing for Anzac Day weekend.

I will be a super proud Auntie at my nephews march out parade in Wagga Wagga.  He left us 80 days ago to of off and join the army.  Long hair, beard and party boy.

I can't wait until nest weekend.  Camper Trailer will be our bed saving us heaps of money on accommodation and I will be smiling and probably crying with my sister.

I was thinking of taking my son to the 10:30am service at the local war memorial. How do you explain Anzac day to a 3 year old?

Ill be attending the dawn service to start, haven't missed one for 25 odd years, and then I will be catching up with a heap of mates with whom served with.

Likely march at the 1030am step off, and from there, no doubt I will have a few beers for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Dawn service then off to see the number1 son who we haven't seen for a while.

Enjoy the graduation Vicki. My last job. before retiring in 93, was the Soldiers Chapel at Kapooka. Never saw it finished except in photos.

Dawn service with the family to remember those past and present members who do what they do, or have done. After that we enjoy the rest of the day and spend it doing whatever we want.

Will be attending the memorial at work and then off to march in the city.

Then back to work for a few quiet beers with some mates.

Sounds like you will be in for a big day Vicki, enjoy.

We have our boy still in cadets so this year is another 3 services day, with him being catafalque party for the dawn service then marching in the daybreak service in another little town close by and then back home for the 10 o'clock march.

Feeling run down already, but well worth it. :D

I left Barcaldine on my 17th birthday 42 years ago to go to Kapooka 1RTB  I am now back in Barcy for this ANZAC day, very proud.

I'll be at a local dawn service with my wife and the prefects from her school. Great school tradition that the students look forward to and participate in enthusiastically.

Local dawn service and gunfire breakfast back at the RSL.  For the first time my boy will be able to have a beer with me.
Then off to march behind my Grandfathers WW1 unit banner 21st Battalion.
Then, for the 30th consecutive year my bros and I will be carrying my dads unit banner - 8th Div AASC.
Finally off to the football for the 2 current generation of passionate pies to cheer on dads team.
Will get a buzz at the vets cavalcade around the ground before the match this year, as one of the AASC vets, a former POW from the Burma Railway and Japan, will be taking part.  Well done Alex!

Congratulations and what a day to a March out?

Our son will be retuning from his ten day camp on the 25th  and preparing to March out the following Friday from Kapooka all going well, so we are doing the same thing. You will notice a HUGE difference as we already have,  having seen him once for 4 hours in the 80 days.

Enjoy the day, look forward to hearing about it.

Hey Achjimmy

We saw the guys returning from the 10 day camp as they marched past us all.  We all stood and gave them a big round of applause.   The day was great.  It was brilliant to see them all in step and marching around the grounds.

They all really let their hair down afterwards and celebrated.  Not quite the same straight line marched back to the train station at 9pm.  lol

I am so proud, not only of my nephew but of all the men and women.

Hi Vicki

Yeah spoke with him last night, he said as they finished there 10 day challenge they had to March in with the band playing and there was a heap of civvies to cheer them on. He said he was ruined, besides being bush for 10 days and nights with excercises every day and night, yesterday they had a 7.5km March with full packs (30kg) then an extra couple of kms carrying 2 x 20 litre jerries full individually ! Then an assault course with live firing!  He said when you guys cheered them in they felt ten feet tall. :cheers:

He is pumped to March out next week, thanks for supporting him and its great to hear about your nephew. He is an Australian Solider now  :cheers: and you are right to be mighty proud off him.

Great to hear so many still attend ANZAC services.

I can't remember the lst time I missed a service but after talking at work through the week I couldn't find anyone at work attending one. Most were using the opportunity to have a long weekend.

One woman got a bit prickly when I suggested after the sacrifice that thousands made in WWI the least she could do on the day she is given off from work is to give up an hour or so. I have to sit down to some counselling on Monday now as she reported me to her manager before going home early as she was apparently so upset  ???

Still the spirit lives on and I was chuffed to see so many kids at the service I attended.
