Jayco ESC wiring help ???
« on: March 09, 2014, 06:31:49 PM »
I realise this should probably go in the leccie section, but before its moved............................ :police:

I was hoping to appeal to the wealth of knowledge out there as to whether anyone knows which wire on the Jayco goes to the ESC.
Now I also realise that someone like me "should" know, but unfortunately 12 pins sockets have 2 aux pins and a pwr pin all of which Jayco may use....

Alko state one thing, but suggest contacting your caravan manufacturer.
Convention is non existent as its newish to the market and with so many options.............. I'm guessing.

As far as Jayco goes at this stage its anyone's guess and they can't advise me either way........... ???
I was hoping someone had one already and could provide some info.....

PLEASE don't let these thread go all leccie on me. I'm just after a bit of help so I don't have to lie under the car when we do our pick up in a week or so.

Thanks
Brian

Thought the ESC had nothing to do with the tug's electrics.  Thought it was a box under the van that sends a signal to one or another wheel to brake that wheel to steady the van.  Only connection to the ESC would be a 12 V supply.  Wouldn't think anything through the trailer plug.

It does seem confusing.  Good luck.  Nothing a bit of time with a multimeter wouldn't sort out........apparently! ;D It does show two white and two red wires, so hopefully they are together (each separate pair)in the plug and you can trace them from there.  BTW Jayco are the last ones to ask about wiring.  You are lucky it even has a trailer plug. >:D  Ok that was a bit harsh but you get the idea.

As it needs a 30A fuse, I would think they have two wires just to carry that size load

Interesting, seen it a few times at the shows. Can you just buy the kit?

I see alko says it needs to be an authorised installer but some of the caravan builders I have seen I wouldn't trust to build lego properly.

Thanks for all the input guys. I've had a P.M, I'll follow up on with many thanks.

The ESC does NOT have anything to do with the Jayco........

BUT, it does get connected via a 12 pin plug instead of the normal 7 pin.
ALKO recommend either this way or by using an anderson for the connection of ESC.

I already have an anderson for running direct fridge power, so to add another gives me too much to buggerise around with.

1 x 12 pin plug accommodates all wiring and keeps it neat, tidy and hopefully just plug straight in and drive away.

My problem is not how it works or what it does or where it goes, it's just simply which pin number in the 12 pin socket jayco choose to use.
There is a choice and Nobody seems to be able to tell me which goes where.

I'll follow up this pm and report back.

Cheers
Brian
