Shuflo pump
« on: February 22, 2014, 09:54:43 AM »
Hi guys
We have a Shuflo 12v pump model number 4009 and it won't shut off after you've turned the tap off, can the shutoff pressure be adjusted?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Pressure switch could be broken or you have a small leak some where

There is an adjustment screw on the front, but the manufacturers recommendation is not to touch it.

From what you've explained, it sound more likely that the micro-switch has failed. These can be replaced, but sometimes its cheaper to replace the whole pump.

Does the front of the pump look something like this:

If so, Caravan and RV World has this full upper housing assembly for $64.94.

Heres the link:

Assuming that it is the micro-switch. Another option is to remove the micro-switch and take it to an irrigation/pump joint. They may be able to supply just the switch at a fraction of the price others do.

Good luck.

Most probably you have some sand or grit in the pump valve stopping it closing.
Carefully remove the screws at the top, outside ones and under you will see small round disks about the size of a 2 cent pieces. Remove any sand grit etc. and carefully put it back together . Should now work. Take your time and don't force anything, there are rubber seals around the edge and will come apart with a small amount of effort.

I'd say the switch is gone. They tend to not pump at all if there is grit in the rubber seals inside. Even then it is like micros surgery to get it all out. I've had to a few times until I wised up and bought the surflo inlet filter, what a brainiack  i am  ;D

So what's a two cent piece?
