Hi Brian,
I take it that you are going to an Expanda if your previous posts are anything to go by. Am I wrong? Good choice if it is.
John

Sadly - NO.............

I was as keen as, but the minister of finance decided she still liked the 360 views of the Hawk and as such we replaced it with ----------A hawk.

Can't complain really, I loved the old one, so I can't see any reason why I won't love the new one.
I was just a little keen on getting an internal shower and toilet, but now with the property we don't need one......

She has promised an expanda next though  ;D

Cheers
Brian

Contracts exchanged last Friday, and Jayco rang us up today to tell us the new Hawk has arrived........
They will need it for a week, then we can pick it up........

I'm as happy as , well a myswagger at a campfire.

Now the mods on the camper and planning for the farm start.
Off to have a look at tractors and slashers in a couple weeks.
Now all I have to do is find a way of stopping work and all is good...............

I'll get some photos up as soon as I remember to take the camera down with me.......  :-[
Cheers

Great stuff mate. It's nice having your own spot, we use to use a small corner of the property years ago before the olds sold up.  It was invite only but we didn't have anything flash, just a fire pit and a hole in the ground with a plank with a hole in it for the ladies.

Enjoy!
Don't complain! It could be worse, you could be six foot under or a brick of ashes!!

Sadly yet gladly we are glampers not campers..............

So there are plans already for 2 10.5 x 6 metre sheds with toilets, hot showers etc etc. Possibly even throw in some travertine tiling if I get carried away......
We then plan the mother of all firepits with a specially constructed camp oven rack and pits.

Camp kitchen, Jayco carports and possibly even a beer fridge - Hoping the impending cuts to solar rebates will bring the panel prices right down again....... So I can run a decent S.P.S.

Yuppies glampers? Hell yeah and loving it............

Picking up the Hawk on Thursday.

I'll get some photos as soon as settlement takes place....

I'm hearing you about the solar.  We are wanting to build a place next year, a Quaker  Barn and run off solar, no mains power at all.  For the initial setup it will cost a bit but it will pay for itself in no time at all.
We will have to swing past when we do our Canberra trip.

You'd be pleasantly surprised how cheap it is getting..................
Come July all bets are off with any rebates.............
Don't know what will happen to STC prices, but I'm betting equipment prices will come down even further.

Since I never sell to myswaggers (don't mix business and pleasure ) I can let you know...........
I just bought a 6KW system for my house to compliment my existing 3KW's. $4,500. German Solar panels and SMA inverter.
OK so I have to install and meter it myself, but even if you add install cost of a days labour plus metering its still damn cheap for 6KW.

I don't think it will be long before its extremely cheap and viable. Businesses are going to be the biggest winner as they can use the power during the daytime.

Hope you can swing by. Look forward to it,
Brian

I was about to say where are the pics but then a couple of posts above you delivered. Have you got any more to show.

I love scouring the net and papers for weekender blocks around Goulburn, Oberon etc and dream. There is a great thread on the Ford Forums called acerage where everyone has posted their slice of paradise. One guy even bought an island and is building on it.

Might need to talk to you about solar too.

I am lucky to have unlimited access to 10 acres along the Goulburn River in Jamison, Vic. Has 3 swimming holes deep enough to swim in, in summer and no another person around for miles and backs onto state park.

Big fires, loud music and partying all night, on the boys weekends away. :)

Also has a cabin that sleeps 6 people, for the winter months but prefer the tent when we go with the family.

No more rushing to get prime position at Xmas, Easter, Long weekends :) :)

So we were having 18 tonne of blue metal delivered so we can fix up some boggy sections of the track and level off a nice area for the new shed.

Young mate meets us at the gate and we were worried with all the recent rain, of him getting bogged.............. :'(
He followed us in and when we got to a 20 metre boggy section just before the entry he stops, gets out and has a look.
Now worries he'll give it a go, patrol got through no trouble in 2wd and it isn't deep. So he turns around to jump back in the truck, but before he gets there it bellows large puffs of smoke and croaks............. >:(
Won't kick over, wont budge...
So we now have a 30 tonne truck blocking the roadway.

Not too much of a problem except its blocking our neighbours access as well as ours and the shed was being delivered today
A 10.5 x 7 metre shed with 10.5 x 7 metre awning, so it wont be on a ute...........
Hopefully old mate can get his delivery truck around.

Still, I'm not complaining its moving ahead and shortly we'll have a shed with 2 x bathrooms and a wood heater inside.
Then its time to start building our Jayco "Docking Stations"!!!  ;D

Couple of solar panels for power, septic tank for the dunnies and rainwater tanks and we'll be all go.
Love to invite some swaggers down when the track is fixed and toilets are ready........
Just make sure you bring beer........

I also deny everything of course, but I managed to get the tractor bogged to the axles on the weekend.
Definitely no photos - so don't ask........... :-[ :-[ :-[

It was handy having the front end loader though, I just lifted the wheels in the air and packed some tree stumps (chainsaw helped) under the wheels then drove out.
I wonder if a FEL can be attached to the front of the playdo or is Harold Screwloose would object  ;D

Hopefully more photos after we hand move 18 tonnes of blue metal next weekend..............

Bad luck about the truck Brian but soon it will be all a memory :)

I got a m8 looking into the shipping container homes. Apparently they are cheap and just slot together as they unload them. I believe there was a show on last month about all container setup and design.

Good luck getting the truck going again!

We looked into the shipping container idea, but council will only allow 1 per lot.
You can get specific DA approval, but its adds cost and we were told it wouldn't pass.
Also we don't think a truck would get down to the river.

Its a good idea though and I've seen some great setups.
