What do you give Sri Lankan's for a present?

I have the need to give a moderate priced gift to someone from Sri Lanka.
I do not know their religious beliefs but they have a couple of statues of multi-armed elephants, little fat guys with gold coins stuck to their guts, and there is always incense burning
I could pass a bottle of grog to them but it may be against their beliefs and an insult.
Does anyone know of gifts that will not offend?

A genuine Australian, Taiwanese made  rabbit / cat felt Akubra hat, A nice Chinese made toy Kaola with toxic small plastic kid choking bits and a genuine Aussie Bangladeshi made Bonds Aussie flag printed T- Shirt, thongs and beach towel set ..
Plus an Aussie seven course dinner to go ... A six pack and a pie .

I used to work with a couple of them and they were very religous but they loved whiskey, only problem was the VSR have good taste so it had to be Dimple

Usually Johnny walker red.

For my mates birthday I buy him blue. Black if an 0 birthday.

You will find them the most hospitable hosts. In their culture they show this by serving mountains of food.

Our freinds still eat with their right hand, but they setup cutlery as well.

Fantastic people.

The Sinhalese are Buddhist, the Tamils are Hindu, and the burghers (Eurasians) are Christian.

Buddha is a little fat guy, that may be him.

Are you sure Akubra hats are made in Taiwan now?I thought they were still made in Kempsey.

They are made in Australia. Was listening to the guy on the radio the other day.

He was saying that they import some pelts as supply is low in Australia. Not what the farmers around here are saying but in any case....

Well, I got him a bottle of Whiskey. Not that Scottish crap but nice bottle of Jameson Irish.
He smiled and thanked me, so it couldn't have been all bad.
As for Kangaroo scrotum bag, why the hell would I want to give him something that would be a constant reminder of K Rudds face?

Dreadfully sorry old bean. Fotheringham just informs me we might have got our communiques crossed up. Had awful visions of those bally colonials advising despatching a shipload of petrified possum penises or some such rot off to Ceylon. Didn't need another international incident on our hands and upsetting the cricket.
Egads! I've gone and mentioned the cricket in polite company again and now the Undersecretary wants a little chat about the impending knighthood most likely.  Another crisis on my hands, but do keep me posted and as your PM would say- Gotta zip!
