Increasing I phone 5 range

Just wondering if there is anyone using an external bar mount aerial with an I phone 5 and if so which Inductive cradle are you using to help get the signal up?

Any Info appreciated

I don't have an iPhone but a Samsung. Running the smooth talker cradle with an external antenna and it makes a big difference. When out and about the difference between the wife's phone and mine is very noticeable in service when remote.

I was having a look at them and I read somewhere that the smooth talker is one of the leading cradles however the cradle for the I phone 5 has been tailored for overseas USA/Canadian networks and not overly suited to the Aus network.

I have a car comm cradle for a Nokia 920 and I have taken the aerial ( broomstick ) off...

Difference in reception was nil !!

If I was having trouble making a call ( but could get reception 20 ft away )....plugging the aerial into the cradle made no difference..

I even took the aerial off and mounted it 10 ft high in a tree and made no difference ..

Obviously an aerial won't boost a signal , but it should improve the reception if there is some sort of signal, but the inductive cradle certainly doesn't work in my case ..

Smooth talker for my iPhone 5 and yes it does make a difference. The wife's 4s won't get a signal when driving but my 5 in the cradle with 9db aerial on sovereign bar gets 1 or 2 bars. Even test with work 5 no cradle and my 5 in cradle same thing. Reception better

I was told it would fit a Samsung S3 but it doesn't.  It looks like they have an XL model now that will.

I fitted it in my work car for my BlackBerry but have an iphone 5S on the way so will bd able to test it with that soon.

It works very well with my blackberry and I can even lean my S3 against it to get better reception even though it won't fit in thd cradle.

I have had poor results with passive connections before but this cradle is worth every cent.

Not surprised willy, but there are two models that are i phone 5 compatible one is $99 and the other was $250 & was wondering which model Hutch was using.

Mine is a THB Bury System9 which is the dearer one. You buy a base plate and then you buy a cradle which is phone specific, so when you change phones you just change the cradle part, top quality euro build, just works !

Makes no difference which "flavour" you have, The THB cradles are dear.

All sounds good to me. I've got the 5 and wife has 5c. Our Pajero has inbuilt bluetooth. Does that make a difference to fitting these cradles? The ones I saw on the net seemed to "feature" bluetooth.

Thanks speedcomm, didn't read about the base plate.

We are on the road all of this year so is probably worth the $$.

I will go with the Bury cradle for It seems to get the best wrap on the net and from you guys as well.
As for the antenna I was thinking along the lines of a ZCG 6.2 dBi antenna, from what I have read this seems to be the best compromise.

It is worth remembering, when it comes to cradles and antennae, that sometimes they only boost one of the frequency ranges used by Australian phones. For instance, in the city, 3G runs in the 1200 range, while in the country it is 850, from memory. Some antennae only work in the 850 range, meaning you won't see any real difference until you are out in the bush where that frequency is being used by the towers.
I've had the same problem with boosters, which generally don't give you both ranges...as they are built for the US market.

I ordered all the gear this morning and the aerial I got is a ZCG Scalar SGLDB 6.2dBi which only operates on 850mhz.
So fingers crossed, with the antenna and Bury 9 Im hoping Ive got the best combination.

Pling, you won't be disappointed. Keep your phone antenna mounted as high and clear of obstructions as you can.
