« on: February 03, 2014, 09:56:16 AM »
what's your thoughts on camping at the Hilton.....or should we camp at lightning ridge?

I see its free with a small charge for facilities.......

we are dropping in for two nights on our way to broken hill....

its a little further out than I thought.......but its right in the middle of the diggings? not that we will be digging but I reckon cruising around would be interesting

we only have a short drive to the ridge for the night before so we pretty much have 1 1/2 days on the ground in the area........the bride is into art so i'm guessing staying closer to the ridge might be best for this short stop over as its not the main part of our trip as we will probably be dropping in again

might even do one night at the ridge and the other at the hilton

We only stayed there for a night , but loved it....

Set up the KK approx 30M from the hilton....went over and had a few beers....had some lunch there.....a few more beers......went and had a rest and walk around "town"......back to the hilton for tea and a few more beers....back to bed at midnight !!!!

We went in via sheepyard, so had a look around the fields before we got there..

It was free when we went there ...a few yrs ago now ..

Great characters around that area !!

Hi
We camped behind the sheepyard last July for three nights and loved it. It was free, cheap meals and had a baker baking bread on site a couple of days a week warm fresh bread yum. We noodles went sightseeing and had a ball will go back this year
