Camping within 30 min of Toowoomba
« on: January 30, 2014, 05:04:50 PM »
Hi all

I need to travel to Toowoomba for a week to study on Campus at the Uni.

I did a quick search and found a few nice places to camp about an hour out of Toowoomba, but I was hoping for somewhere within 30 minutes.

Does anyone have any leads to somewhere I can get a powered site and leave the CT for the day?

Thanks in advance...

When mate?

Murphy's Creek bush retreat is just down the road.

Nice place, showers and you won't get a-holes ripping off your stuff when not their (as I am currently in the same boat for Easter).

The place is run by an ex soldier, good bloke too. I reckon if you let him know your position, he may even keep an eye on the place when your at Uni.

Heading up Sunday 9th coming home Friday 14th.

I was just looking at Murphy's Creek.

It looks like the ticket I think and as work's paying, I'll save them about $80 a night.

They should be happy with that...

Allow yourself 20mins to get up the hill, then another 20mins to get to the Uni.

It is on the other side of Toowoomba, so allow for traffic. But their isn't much.

you could also look at Jondaryn Woolshed http://www.jondaryanwoolshed.com.au/ ...personally i prefer to camp there down by the creek in the unpowered area, but they also have a powered area aswell

Thanks guys, they both look great and I've got a few days to think about it.

I need the powered site so the missus and kids can Skype me and I can run the camp fridge.

The next purchases for the CT are a battery and solar panels...

Thanks again...

Dunno if this worth anything to you, but you can get 3G, 3-4 bars at Murphy's Creek.

This should help with the family.

Robbo,

Other option could be to stay somewhere out the Western side of town say at Pittsworth at the caravan park. Not sure of the space available but it is basically in the middle of town and your ct would be able to have an eye kept on pretty easily. All the facilities that you would expect and an easier drive into town and the uni than it is coming up the range. Depends on what you prefer
