Water Jerry Cans
« on: January 12, 2014, 12:08:55 PM »
I have a 20L clear plastic jerry can that I use when the water tap is too far away. In recent times it looked pretty bad inside due probably to poor quality water. I tried quite a few methods to clear the gunk with little success. The final solution was to Karcher it. The smallest diameter of the Karcher fittings fitted into the container and the rest was history. Good as new.

Good to know.

I always use dark coloured plastic containers for water to try to stop the light getting to the water. It is generally the light that makes the water go bad.

Hi,
a bit of laundry bleach will kill all the 'grooblies' growing in there too.

Rinse until you can no longer smell the Chlorine.

cheers

Before and after use of our 25 ltr water drums [off clear plastic ] they get a good dose of salt and a couple of liters of boiling water sloshed around in them [ just be carefull when releasing the cap ] due to preasure build up, then a good flush out and ready to go ..
