Camping with D-Heads
« on: December 30, 2013, 01:10:29 PM »
Nº 1 son went caming at Yadboro Flats boxing day to NY day with his mate and his family - including 3 littlies, her mother and new bloke. So we showed up last friday to spend the w/end.
Late friday, 4 car loads of young blokes and girls showed up. Dof dof pumping, lots of loud talking/yelling/yahooing and drinking immediately started. A few hours later, they decided to run the car playing the dof dof, obviously to charge the battery, but that was good enough to just sitting there redlining, so they figured it'd probably charge quicker by driving fast up and down the road, of course another bloke obviously figured he'd help his mates battery charge even quicker if he raced up and down with them  ::)
Then the girls (found out later they were all 'round 15/16 yr olds) piled into a car, and they figured it'd be fun to drive around the camp sites with high-beam on, and shining torches into the assorted tents and trailers, not racing, but not at a safe speed either.
Hunted by one large group, they made their way over to us. Promptly told by new bloke to get because we had small kids with us, and they were being dangerous.
Couple of hours later, sitting 'round the fire having a couple of quiet one's and talking while the littlies were tucked up in bed, one of the other cars was back near us doing the same thing. They stopped near us and were turning their lights off and on. New bloke started walking over to tell 'em to pi55 off, so they drove forward a couple of meters and stopped, new bloke started walking towards them again, and off they'd go again.
By this time, they were next to my camper, so I walked over and stood next to it. Young bloke gets out of his car and comes over to me and starts yelling saying why did we hassle their girls earlier? I try to get through to him that'd we'd just told them to leave and stop shining lights at everyone. This bloke was either deaf, or was just spoiling for a fight  ???
Meanwhile, young girl has also gotten out of the car and is ranting and raving, egging her 'hero' on. Others from our group have now walked over to keep an eye on things.
I've turned just in time to see girl left hook my son in the face, he responded by telling her to pi55 off, and she's lucky she wasn't a bloke because he doesn't hit girls, her response was to punch him again. During that 30sec or whatever, my wife was telling this hero to just go back to their camp and stay there, so hero got right in my wife's face. Just as I was turning back to them, I seen my wife just reach out and grab him 'round the throat yelling at him to back off, I seen him arm come up, so I throw myself between them and shoved him back, he came back swinging, so I smashed him. One of his mates grabbed him and tried to pull him away, but he broke lose and grabbed me lifting me in the air. Things get a bit blurry here, but I managed to twist him to the ground and get on top and just started pounding till my son's mate dragged me off, hero's mate dragged him back to the car.
While others were holding him there, hero's mate tried to apologise and said hero had been causing trouble all day. We told him to just get him back to their camp site and stay there, which he eventually did. Lots of yelling, and thumping and banging coming from their camp after that, and about an hour later, all 4 cars left - found out next day that another group camped next to them had walked over and told them to pack up and leave, or they'd pack 'em up  :D Also found out the next day, that just about all the other camper's/group's had had trouble with them >:(
Saturday was a top day, with lots more campers arriving, and everyone spending the day down in the water, even an unusual amount of dogs there this time, and not one dog fight. Everyone just got on having fun drinking, swimming, canoeing and talking  :)
Come sunday morning,  :police: crusier pulls up, and asks if it was me involved in the fight? Seems the girl who'd hit my son had gone home saturday night and told mum they'd been looking for the toilet and got attacked, and how a bloke had punched her in the face  ???  Mum got her and hero to go to  :police: and have me charged with assault   :o
Cops asked us our version and left, satisfied these clowns had bought it upon themselves :)  Apparently hero's head wasn't in the best of shapes...score one for justice   :D

makes it a Shit weekend... but good outcome..
best way to deal with them is soon as they pull up,,, have a nice chat to them about life. ;D
I did,, mind you i had been splitting fire wood and still had the axe in my hand when they pulled up. they were going to set up camp rite behind us.! they already had the doof doof going. just politely ask them to make sure they kept the noise down as i was a grumpy old bugger..
they left 2 mins later.? ;D
was a good weekend. ;D

Poverty Pack.!

These days I record the action and get vehicle registration details then if they don't respond to polite requests I always call the police.
I always carry the Sat phone so I can be sure of a signal.
I don't have a problem with noisy kids having a few drinks and a bit of fun, good on them, but when their actions pose a danger to others or they just go over the top then I act.

Cheers
Parry

We had a run in with some schoolies (ranging from about 17 to 20 by the looks of 'em) about 8 years ago when we rented a unit at Tangalooma.

I went next door and tried the nice way first to get some quiet and to keep a long story short, after a while, i went next door to belt the idiot i'd spoken to several times by now.
Mrs Jeepers wasn't far behind me and it was about to blow up big time, when Mrs Jeepers tried to step in and an 18 year old Barbie look alike asked Mrs Jeepers, "Who fark are you bitch" so Mrs Jeepers turned, looked her in the eye and said, don't farken talk to me like that bitch and belted her a cracker and knocked her on her arse.

I looked straight at the bloke i was about to belt, he looked at me, then the chick on her arse.

Round 1 to the old folks, as they retreated to their unit.

People got relocated and it all was good settled down from there on in.

I was really proud of Mrs Jeepers, but she was ashamed of herself for loosing control, but i must say, it was a very controlled right hook to the jawbone of an ass from where i was standing.  :D

She still hates me telling people about it too, so we won't mention to Mrs Jeepers i put it on here, will we.

Back in my day, 1 on 1 was the go and to the victor the spoils. These days a single SMS can be sent to a large number of 'mates' and in an instant you can go from 1 on 1 to 1 to many which could be a problem if you're camping with your kids. The moral of the story is, before resorting to force understand the consequences.

Thank the Camping Gods this has never happened to us!

Although the Doof Doof and loud drunkenness amongst youth is a common problem.

We were camped at Cedar Creek one weekend ... a no dog campsite ... and someone bought their dog.  Fine.  Keep it quiet please.  Well the DD fixed that.  It was all we could hear for hours and hours and hours.  The same CD over and over and over.  Wasn't too bad the first 2 times.  When it finally stopped and all was silent ... then a cheer and some clapping from me   started the entire campground cheering, clapping and whistling with delighted glee for a short time.

When it started again, it was within the confines of their campsite, but one "oh F-off NO!" from me and the entire campground joined in and suddenly there was once again silence.  They got a bit noisy through the night, which got followed by jeers from a neighbouring camp and once again silence.

They weren't there in the morning.   :cup:

This proves that the entire campground is often behind you ... and a few DH's ... are no match for the camping fraternity joined as one.

I  suggest, 1 call the police, 2 don't wait for a ranger, it could be anytime if at all so why ruin your trip waiting. Safety in numbers if you approach them, and take regos first, phone photos are better.

Vic forest recreation regs, max $1400 fine for being a nuisance, same for public safety hazard. If somebody in a campsite gives me the details and proof, I'm quite happy to write them up.

Our local police are well versed in camping regs  ;D

As I tell my wife.. we are an educated advanced people us humans ..but unfortunately some things can only be settled  with force.. good on you for sticking it to them. :cup: :cup:

Diplomacy requires a basic level of intelligence on both sides.. when that fails, you earn every step....and words are useless.. its then.. that actions speak loudest.

Maybe they should have a morons camp ground in each state, and then they won't bother everyone everywhere.

Fair enough  ;D

The scary thing is they breed, the next generation of dumb witts will be even more ignorant and stupid than their parents were.
And so the slippery slide into the murky depths of the gene pool continues.
God help us all.
