hitch reciever / bike carrier ... advice please
« on: December 29, 2013, 03:19:04 PM »
well preparing for holidays .. I drag out the bike carrier to fit to the new camper trailer and discover that the 100mm receiver does not have a bolt to secure  the hitch ... to hold it firmly without the carrier moving ..quite sloppy .... Can I use shims or something else to firm it up ...or am I asking to much ...

it would be holding 1 x adult bike  ... Melbourne to Eden ... my preference would be to have a hole  drilled into the receiver  and nut welded to it .so I can nip it up etc etc  ...  what are youre thoughts here ...

thanks mick

Drill a hole and tap a thread into it, strong enough to steady the hitch.

I done just what Rob C said only I added a lock nut to the bolt so it doesn't work loose
