Where to go Central to South Queensland or Northern NSW
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:27:45 PM »
We are trying to decide where to go for around ten days in January. Leaving from Rockhampton need to end up in Brisbane 2 weeks later.

Just us and a five year old girl. In campertrailer reasonably self sufficient.

Our thoughts have gone from Bundaberg somewhere to see the turtles to Canarvon Gorge but thinking my be too hot.  Maybe a farmstay or  who knows

Our daughters suggestion was let's go back to Nymboida.

Any suggestions would be appreciated not keen on the hustle and bustle of the sunshine or Gold Coast.  Anyone got other options.

Cheers

Colin

Chrissy cheers Colin, hope you are all well. Smart girl you have there!!

Maybe somewhere in the tablelands which will be a bit more relaxed, Queen Mary Falls for instance

A few years ago well had new years in Tenterfield lots of history [wineries also].

Whatever you decide, I hope all is well.

We just got home for here from Clarence River Wilderness Lodge. Can highly recommend it.

If you drive in from the north, you have passed many other nice places to stay and see along the way.
Such as Andrew Drynan Park on Lyons Road:

It is a nice drive, and then after the park, up and over into NSW is nice with the boarder loop railway and tunnel, then there is the National park there to pass through, Boarder Ranges. That then gives you Kyogle, where there is a few ways to cut over to the west for Urbanville to then drive to the Lodge on clarence river. The drive from Urbanville to the Lodge is 1 hour, if you dive sensibly that is.
Have fun picking somewhere

Wave Hill Station just South of Tabulum is a nice place. It's on the top bit of the Clarence Gorge & I prefer it to the "Lodge" downstream. I've stayed at both & it's just a personal preference of the other people I stayed at both with & myself.
Our campsite.
