Cadbury Chocolate
« on: December 07, 2013, 12:05:28 PM »
I just went and got a large block of Cadbury Fruit and Nut Chocolate.
I've been cleaning windows all morning and thought I'd shout myself a treat. ;D
Took a bite and thought this tastes different. Another bite  ??? Where's the fruit and nuts?
Kept going and only little bits of fruit, hardly any nuts. >:(
What's happened to my favourite choc. ???
Anyone else noticed it also?

Do you remember when the cadburys chocolate block was 250gms. Well about three years ago, from memory, the size was reduced to 220gms and 230gms but there was no change in the price. When cadburys were questioned about this, their PR persons response was that they had done their market research and the new sizes were what the customers wanted so that was that.
Hellooo!! Since when and why would we, the customer, want less product for the same price.
That was it for me. I now buy Whittakers chocolate 250gms and won't touch cadburys. >:(

Sadly its a sign of the times. All about profit and treating the consumer like an idiot. Cadbury isn't the only company that's doing it. Fine by me, I refuse to buy any goods from producers who turn scabs. So far I've saved quite a bit of money. My boycott list grows bigger by the year. Haven't had McDonalds, Kentucky Duck, Red Rooster and others for over 3 years now due to piss poor service. I've also saved my sanity not getting shirty paying for undersized meals served up with crappy service. On the other hand I can be a very loyal customer to those who offer good quality and friendly service.  ;D

I prefer the Aldi brand chocolates now, the flavor runs rings around anything Cadbury puts out.  :cup:

You may notice that the price doesn't change neither, so they make the same profit from less product.  >:(

I believe it was the price of coca  which forced cadburys into reducing fruit and nuts along with reducing how big the bar was ,and even then they still put up the bloody price, VB did somthing similar then they reduced the amount of alcohol in there brews which made there beer even more bitter, then they dropped market share, so now now there back with the original ..

companies should never screw with loyalty based products i guess would be the moral of the story

Swaggers give this a try: Lindt Excellence 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate 100g. I stock up when on sale in the supermarket, sometimes down at $1.99. I love my morning espresso and a piece of Lindt in the afternoon. Once you go to the dark side very hard to go back. I also like the 85%, even less sugar, but takes time to get used to.

The best chocolate you'll ever eat comes out of Norway.

Mrs Jeepers is Norwegian.....  ;D Her father years ago, bought back 4 huge big blocks of the stuff.

Over about 3 days, i hoovered up the lot of it and she ended up with about 3 squares out of all of it. She still gets the sh!ts and gives me the silent treatment good and proper if i bring the topic up, which i try to do at least once a week for some quiet "Me Time"

One of my favourites used to be Rum and Raisins Dark a Chocolate, but they've even cut back on the Raisins in it. Not sure about the Rum. ;D

They changed the chocolate recipe a while back despite their denying it. I ate way too much of the stuff, like 5-8 family blocks a week a few years back, then stopped after the change. F&N was also my favourite, then I changed to coconut rough but they stopped offering that for sale.

The amount of cocoa butter dropped and was replaced with palm oil to keep costs down. A few years ago Cadbury realised that the price of cocoa was going to soar in the not too distant future, definitely before 2020 and we'll see a big jump in price. It's also Halal certified now.

I don't usually like white chocolate, but have a coconut and cornflakes white chocolate (yes I know how it sounds) but it tastes really good.

Whilst in Tassie we went to the Cadbury Factory..... what a let down.
All you get is ushered into a small room a monotone lady drones on while a video plays then they kick you out before you can look at the displays.
Rude the factory seconds outlet there were more expensive that buying the same thing at shiploads or even IGA.
Would not recommend it at all, and what rubs it in is the lady cackles at the fact you cant now walk around and the whole video not one worker all bloody machines and robots.
There are much better chocolate factories in tassie to visit trust me!!!
Anvers house of chocolate and Federation chocolate factory.
YUMMMMMMMMOOOOOO
Sooooo many free samples, and the kind ladies there dont let you leave till you tried one of everything hahaha
