Security at Christmas
« on: November 30, 2013, 03:45:13 PM »
Hi Everyone
As it is soon to be the time for enjoying ourselves doing the thing we all enjoy, getting out there camping now what does everybody do about security with their camper trailer and all equipment.
We know anybody can get into the camper and take what they want, you can't keep packing everything up every time you leave camp, I am talking about CP because when you are remote you haven't got this problem and as most things are stolen from CP I was just wondering what everybody does

Make very good freinds of the campers on the adjacent sites. It's not usually fellow campers, but locals who can be light fingered.  Let them know your movements, and offer to keep an eye on their stuff when they're away from site.

Don't go to Inskip Point then, that'd steal the white cane and labrador off a blind man during the holidays there.

Make friends with neighbours like Mace said but most thefts that I've heard of in CP s are during early part of the evening, but simple things like keep stuff closer to the back and not the front of the annex esp beer esky's a length of cable though fridge. Just some simple things, a lot of. These are yocals on a quick walk through tying to trap something, a lot of esky's are taken hoping to get the beer.

Call it being over pedantic but the engel is always kept in the patrol, we have recently biught a generator which I have made up a steel cable which I will lock to the axle of the camper. This cable was cut up from a previous winch cable so hoping that shoukd deter them.
Some of you may think its stupid but no matter where we camper whether its remote or in caravan parks there is always a wheel clamped placed on the camper.

But I will say that we always try go make friends with the neighbour's.
If you never go, you'll never know

It's a good idea putting the wheel clamp on no matter where you are I must remember that.

X2

I added a cable lock to lock my ARB fridge to the slide in the fridge box, just to make it a bit harder to nick and hope it convinces the tea leaf to look elsewhere !

I also have 2 wheel extra tough chains and strong padlocks so I can lock the wheel to the independent suspension frame, just to make it a bit harder.
