Newbie from Ballarat
« on: November 10, 2013, 07:54:03 AM »
New to the site, and love it.We are planning to do a trip next year not sure if the centre or Cape York with friends .
So need to gear up as we have 4 teenage kids -so hopefully they will help with set up.
Biggest issue getting a rig we can set up and move quickly and sleep in and robust enough ...

Welcome mate.

4 teenage kids hey. What about a hard floor and seperate tents/swags for the kids? Then they can sort themselves out if they want to sleep dry  ;D

Good luck with the search

Welcome to the forum, great to have you on board.
Agree from experience, if teenagers, get each of them a swag, or pair them up with their own tents to set and pack up or a large tent CT where they each have a specified task.

I saw a family set up the other day where they pulled up, unhitched and the dad drove off to get supplies.
By the time He got back the rest of the family set up in a calm well rehearsed manner. Clearly from this it's the male causes all the hassles when setting up, so I've suggested to SWMBO next time we try this. Mrs scarps somewhat dubious about my idea of go a get supplies:-)

i have been accused of causing the hassles when setting up as well , get them all a footy and let them go ,or send them for the beer..

Welcome hope you find the set up you are looking for, we only have the 2 of us and often our 2 dogs I find with set up once the trailer is unhooked if we lift the tent on the struts grab out what will be needed and put it on the ground beside trailer, trailer cover off and open tent out together.  From there seems better to have separate jobs so he pulls out the tent floor pegs it down and does the inside poles (sometimes this part is both of us).  I get the chairs out of the bags set them up put the ozpig together if we are using it  and get the awning poles out then we do the awning together and the side walls.  Less fights this way  ;D

My partner (on here lino6) he travels to both places for work and yes they have bad reputations for the cold, he was in Ballarat yesterday hoping we might be having the same rain no such luck
