Which campground? Sth Durras (NSW)
« on: October 24, 2013, 04:51:44 PM »
Hey folks,
I am looking at a quick trip down to Sth Durras areas within Murramarang National Park for a quick weekend. I will have 3 young kids and a Jayco.

Looking at either:

Lakesea
Big 4 or
Murramarang Resort.

Looking for somewhere that will keep kids happy and easy. Will try Pretty Beach and Pebble Beach another time. Already know that I like Nth Durras.

Any favourites for families. (I have done a search and read the other threads.) Any good sites to aim for.

I will have a surf ski, surf board and skateboards and stuff for the kids. Will also bring a few rods.

At this stage, leaning towards Lakesea.

When I saw the thread title I was going to suggest Pretty Beach.  Maybe another time.  Murramarang does look nice, but haven't stayed there yet.

Let us know how you go.

My wife is leaning towards murramarang resort, so I think it will get the gig this time. Will check the others out and report back.

Just check, but last time I was there just under 2 years ago, you had to pay extra for the showers when camping at Murramarang Resort, unless you had an ensuite site
cheers

Stayed at Murramurang earlier this year. Overall not bad. They had kids club but I think that was only in school holidays. Showers are $1 for about 5 mins. Plots are large. Pool is nice, but if they have a function on the bar service is terrible.
Some good walking tracks nearby which they have leaflets with directions in the shop.

Big 4 at Batemans bay is a better park imo. However it is more focused towards 2000' vans and rvs. Probably better for the kids there.

Neither will allow fires.

You could try big 4 Nelligen which is on the river and there fore better for you ski, fishing and they were building some kids water play area think. They allow fires I think.
