Yes, the NPWS are installing additional gates at Lavis Lane and Yes, the Lavis Lane entrance will be closed in Autumn 2014. No, the NPWS are not closing the beach to 4wd's, the Worimi people make too much coin from the permits to let the NPWS do that!
What is happening is they are tarring the road in as well as tarring and extending the car park before the sand starts. The plan is to create more space for 4wd's to deflate and inflate tyres as well as spots for the people with quads on trailers to park. Lavis Lane entrance will be closed for approximately 4 weeks (weather permitting) for the works to be completed.
