Only ever been to the Naviti further down the coral coast, but this info might help you

I head over to fiji a fair bit, I have not stayed at the Sonisali, but head there to go on surf trips everytime I go over, nice spot, although very tidal, so cant swim in the ocean at low tide, great spot to base if surfing. I too stay further up the coral coast. I have stayed at the Naviti, its cheap family friendly, cool little gold course, i have stayed at the Warwick, a bit more classy, with beautiful restaurants, nice pool etc, but our pic is the shangri la fijian, as you can swim both tides, multiple pools to choose from, good little gold course, all different ranges of food, we are heading back there in March for the 5th time, we have two young kids, we get a garden view room on the ground floor, you can sit and relax whilst the kids run a muck and you can see them for the most part...i think generally in most parts of fiji you'd enjoy yourself
A little bit of work between camping trips never hurt anyone..............

I was there in 2010. It was alright but would not go back.

The rooms are old and need updating. We were in a spa bungalow. i could make more bubbles farting. ;D

The beach is average. It's a small boat ride to the island about 5 min. The food was ok.

We had a 10 day package with $1000 credit and the food was expensive. The staff were ok.

The resort needs up grading also. The kids went on a horse trek and the horses looked like they were close to death.

You can do better.

You'll enjoy it. Fiji is a great place, Mrs Squalo is part Fijian so we go there occasionally. We don't stay in resorts though as the family has 140 waterfront acres at Mau (just south of Suva). But I can say the Warwick is a swanky place, as we go there for brekkie sometimes :)

Nadi (pronounced Nandi) is not much more than the airport, and isn't the best introduction to Fiji. The best of the main island is the Coral Coast, between Nadi and Suva, that's where the big resorts are. If you venture down that way, watch out for the aggressive Indians at Sigatoka markets, I nearly clocked one when he wouldn't stop hassling my very pregnant wife on one trip. Don't be tempted to agree to go with them to see what they have to sell, just say NO and do your own thing. And definitely don't be seen coming out of the ANZ in Sigatoka... they will be on you like piranhas.

Glad it wasnt just me who had troubles at the Sigatoka markets, let alone the taxi trip back to Naviti, lets just say the non Fijian locals of those parts are not my flavour due to their carry on .

The point was this you can read all the reviews unlike and listen to some who have unrealistic expectations or listen to the views of people who enjoy a similar lifestyle to us. Whilst we have already booked it it would be nice to know what to expect from it.
I am also bored s**t less lying in a hospital bed so thought I woul ask for an opinion from people who's opinions I value.

Eddy things may have changed since we were there. If you are going for a day trip with the taxi drivers do a deal with them. I loved bartering over there.

Enjoy your break

I forgot to mention, the Sigatoka Valley is a great place for a day trip, read up on it before you go because there's a few tour operators to choose from if you pay for a guide.
