Stockton Beach.  You listen to some people and they say it is locked up and you can't drive there.  Good to see you had a good day there.

Good stuff, glad you made the investment: sand causes a lot of beginners dramas but once you learn a few tricks you will be ready for sand and desert conditions anywhere!

Stockton is not closed but there are restrictions in place. It's only the yobbos who want to drive their lifted 4WDs over everything that doesn't move and play snatchum-straps with each other who aren't happy.

It's great to see the dunes looking unmolested again and grass etc starting to grow back in places

There are some small restrictions and the northern entrance is closed.
What did amaze/shock me is the amount of people that just litter the place. How difficult is it to take your rubbish with you.
One day someone will ban these people and we will all suffer ,can't they see that.
I now want to get a compressor how confusing is all that so many models and price.

Call me a yobbo then. It was great fun to drive up the dunes north of Lavis Lane and far more challenging.

There are some small restrictions and the northern entrance is closed.

I was up there a few weekends ago and the Northern entrance (Gan Gan Rd) is defineately open now (was closed a few weeks before I went up there).

Great fun playing on the dunes in the RV area.

Yes that is annoying. We meat a young girl from landcare australia up at the tip. She was talking to my young girl and telling her how everywere she goes she always tries to leave it better than she fownd it, even if it is one bit of rubbish. What a great concept and we have tried to do that as well.

Thanks for the update. The closure was information supplied by the course instructor.

Northern entrance was closed due to flooding/excess water

It was open two weeks ago when I was there - and I guess it's open now for easy access to the pub :)

Is there anywhere in Victoria hat do such training? I know of a few places that do 4wd training but they don't seem to offer sand driving training.

4wd Vic do sand courses...
http://www.fwdvictoria.org.au/upload/training/2013%20-%20Jul-Dec/11137_FWDV_Driving%20in%20Sand.pdf

Theres a couple of Driver Trainers on this forum from our club.

Or join a club and do all forms of offroad training.. A Robe Trip or Portland is probably the easiest if you wanna do it yourself.

I've taken about 8 groups over Robe now without issue

Same at Fraser Island mate. One of a kind island, and morons litter everywhere.
I've used a few cheaper compressors and they all do the job. Currently have a repco one I got for $100 on sale. No need to spend up, unless you are impatient and want to inflate at the speed of light

Portland
or join your local club, and do some trips with them.. I've taken about dozen groups to Robe over the years.
We even have an accredited driver trainer on this board thats in our club...
I started the processes of getting my driver trainers stuff, but what a load of bullShit you have to go through, and dealing with fossils that can do no wrong.

Run them similar to what ever your running on the rear of the tug.
I am generally around 20 to 22kpi if there is some soft stuff around, softer ride and better length of tyre contact to distribute the weight more.

I always start on sand at 16psi and adjust from there, have been down to 10psi but be careful on turns you don't roll off the rim

10 under the trailer works well... and 15 on the tow tug. And as CRD mentioned rolling tyre off rims is a possibility but this won't happen unless you're being silly  ;D

Hope this helps
