Geez that was lucky mate you nearly made the worst decision of your life ;)

Nah they are both good 4wd's and both like a drink. I used to own a 4.5 patrol on gas.

Our 2002 petrol cruiser has a part time 4wd kit installed and we get figures of 16.22ltrs/100km with no camper trailer and 20.62 ltrs/100km with he trailer on. That's on the open road of course and figures vary around town.
The most fuel we have used was 24lts/100km and that was that E10 sh*t we had no choice in when going through rural NSW
We had ours a. Year now and love the power and the comfort. It's difficult to park sometimes but the hyundia Getz are pretty easy to scrape out from under the wheel arches when parking goes to hell. ;)
