Damn it, I missed………….. 2 of them

What was it? Bike riders, the Motor variety.
DISCLAIMER
I am the guy who looks for bikes, and try’s to do the rite thing by Bike Riders, but, when they treat our roads as Philip Island, well, my Bull bar is there for the taking.

Following a great trip away for the weekend, we took the Long Scenic way home via Numinbah Rd from the NSW side.
For those who don’t know, it is a steep windy road with lots of sharp bends, the perfect place to ride a motor bike on a nice day like today.
So, I know this. I know there is a good chance of Bikes coming in either direction, fast.
Driving the tug and dragging the CT up this hill, I am taking my time, there is no rush, pleasant drive, and the kids are counting cows and Horseies, and we are all checking the views.
Then coming the other way was the 1st of the bikes on the wrong side of the road as I rounded a sharp left handed bend, I was going slow, lot slower then the speed limit, this other guy was scraping his pegs on my side of the road.
Oh the look in his eyes when he seen me…..

Then a k or so up the road, another idiot aiming for the bull bar. This time, I took no evasive action at all, couldn’t, nothing but guard rail to my left, about 6 inches from the CT.
I am certain I hit his mirror though….

Just shy of the boarder, there was one who took a flying leap of the grassy hill. Then, further along near the Hinz dam, there is 4 different sites of fresh fiberglass cowlings in the guard rails…….

Must be a great way to spend a weekend, seeing which one is going to die and who will live out of your group....!

last time i drove that road we came across a guy who'd not taken one of the bends also, though luckily he wasn't really injured much, just damaged his bike more then anything.
we drove out through The Gap today and around to Wivenhoe, plenty of bikes out there as you'd expect also, though all were fairly well behaved IMHO. we had a couple pass us over double white lines, but realistically it was safish for them to do so where they did it i thought.

Had a similar thing happen last year.  Made the mistake of going up the Waterfall Way from Bellingen to Dorrigo, again a scenic winding road, well know for the bike riders.  Came to a section of road that form me drops away and curves to the left to follow a section of the Bellinger River.  Thankfully I was taking it easy as coming the other way was three of them.  Yes there tyre was on their side of the centre line but the other 90% of them and bike was leaning over the line onto my side of the road.  They were all hooking in enjoying the ride.  Like you Dave, I had no where to go and each helmet was at bull bar height.  Made for a good day.
Cheers
