I read in the manual ( Yes I know - I'm sick
)
That you should not tow the autos from the rear.
quote: To prevent causing serious damage to the transmission and transfer in emergency towing (vehicles with an automatic transmission)
Never tow a vehicle from the rear with four wheels on the ground. This may cause serious damage to the transmission.
Also in another page - For vehicles with an automatic transmission, only the front towing hooks may be used.
I'm an experienced 4wd'er and am cert IV qualified in the SRODRV courses as a trainer. In a 4by club etc, so I'm not asking about towing procedures etc etc,
BUT - It strikes me as a bit odd to see that in the manual.
Also not condoning it, but have obviously seen heaps of 150's being snatched backwards and not heard of any damage so far.
Any enlightening words of wisdom from fellow swaggers, or is it as I suspect a bit of covering by toyota for damage if towed too far in reverse. Ie not referring to a quick 3 or 4 metre snatch.
Cheers for any help,
Brian
