Coming home from work today the road was blocked by a truck accident. I was in a truck and couldn't be turned around so I sat while the ambo's pulled the driver out. It appeared that the driver was ok but I'm not sure. It was a single vehicle (B double) accident and have no idea what happened. It was a straight stretch of road and there was a bit of rain around, but I wouldn't have thought enough to cause an accident. Just goes to show can happen anywhere at any time.

As a volunteer in the country fire service in Sa for the past 10 years, I have been to far too many fatal accidents, it is unfortunate at any time, more unfortunate is that the majority have not been the deceased to blame.

My belated condolences Evo.

And unfortunately that seems to be a common thing. I remember when I was young and stupid, yes we did stupid things in cars, and yes looking back it wasn't the smartest thing to do. But we never put anyone else in danger. Driving where your mistakes impact others on the road is something that everyone  should be aware of.

Cheers

My condolences Evo - I'd missed this thread till now. Sorry to hear this story, it's very sad. He sounds like he was a fantastic boss and a great mentor. All the best to his family and friends over the tough months and years ahead.

I think we all need a reminder every now and then, to back off and take it easy on the roads. I know I'll certainly be more mindful now.

Thanks for sharing your story, though no doubt it still pains you to talk about it.
