Yes Wayne, at the camp site, called "Handover" people can drink.  The alcohol cannot be openly displayed in the community, or supplied to a community person, that WILL result in immediate removal from country.  I know you would not give such to anyone, but I still emphasise such rules.

Tjupurula

How ironic
When we got to Balgo there was sign indicating the alcohol rules. One look at the missus and we kept driving, fuel or no fuel. We had on board a couple of stubbies and some port. I was too paranoid to enter the community.

Yes, I know about the Balgo rules.  However, the police there know there are no bylaws here, we rule ourselves and do not need anything official.  If you are not stopping in Balgo, they will allow you to go through.  You drive into the community, past the Police Station, on bitumen (in Balgo Community only), take the first turn right that is still bitumen, and then keep drivin straight through.  The bitumen lasts about another 200 metres, then back to corrugation, all the way to Mulan.

Two brothers make some great beers. The Taxi is a pilsner that is one of the best beers you could ever drink, IMO!
They do great pizzas too so its an excellent spot for a Friday arvo!

Strangely enough I enjoy a boutique beer from time to time, but always go back to the staple of VB.

I got mine from Dan Murphy.   About average price for an imported beer.
Has anybody tried Chinese beer?

Very partial to a cold Tsing tao, one of the beers you can drink a fair amount of and not have a beer head the next day. Goes well with the number 34 and number 17 takeaway !!!
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

There are some very nice beers coming out of the South Australian wine districts. Vale, Knappstein, Pepperjack are three I can recall.

Also had a drop at the Boags Brewery when in Tassie a few years ago called Wizard Smith. Incredible but have never been able to find it on the mainland.

My current favourite is Little Creatures Bright Ale, it's not as bitter as many beers, their Pale Ale is also good

For mass produced product that you might get at a good price then Coopers, Pale Ale or Sparkling Ale are good.

Asian beers, my favourite is Beer Lao but this can be difficult to find, Tsing Tao is definitely worth drinking.

Having been lucky enough to have lived in Europe, I say it is near impossible to not put Belgium beers at the very top of the list. With over 140 makes to sample, it is well worth calling in on any trip.
My favorite is this:
http://www.leffe.com/en/beers
With Brown being the top choice for me, here in Aus, it is hard to get but the Blond and Radieuse are easy to find
For the Aussie beer, It is James Squire or Coopers.

People drink Corona as a boutique beer? LOL. Take the fruit out of it and try it - it's almost exactly like Fosters.

XXXX Summer as a boutique beer also gives me a giggle, that's good marketing I guess.

Having said that, I'm not a beer snob, my choice of boutique beer is pretty commercial - Coopers Pale Ale. It's the best beer made in Oz, and still comes in a man size stubbie, not one of those ghey little throwdowns that everything else is served up in.

For proper microbrewery stuff, Scharers Lager, from George IV Inn in Picton NSW. Bavarian recipe and brewed with no added sugars or preservatives. Even the bubbles are natural.

Blue tongue
Little creatures.
James squies

Asian food i like singha tiger Chang etc
Fuji go into dan murphies. Any of the beers that are in shelves loose or 6 packs are the way to go

If they are stacked on pallets bypass them.
Or try Nillumbik cellars in Diamond Creek. They have a good range as well.

Also partial to a drop of Little Creatures and was surprised to see it's now sold in Pint bottles at a restaurant this arvo!
Polished a couple off and according to my Android app "Alcodroid" I will be sober at 6:30pm (thats now!)  oh hang on I've just added a glass of red so my new sober time is 20:57  ;D
