RSPCA Cupcake Day, and local IGA support
« on: August 05, 2013, 03:56:20 PM »
Wife is holding a team for the fundraising of the RSPCA fundraising cupcake day.

http://www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au/

Her team is 'Lickalicious'     https://cupcakeday-wa2013.everydayhero.com/au/lickalicious-cakes-n-cupcakes

Any ladies/wives in and around Albany 6330, and would like to help get involved, PM me for contact number.

All funds raised go directly to the RSPCA.   Can donate directly to the link above.

And a good word included also.

She approached the three Woolworths stores in town and the Coles supermarket.  They said they could donate $50 of store cards to sponsorship for her, and she in turn buys all ingredients needed at that store. ($50 doesnt buy alot)

The local North Road IGA store, proudly said they would sponsorship everything she needs to make them, ...and more. They'll donate everything from basic ingredients to all the fondant, sparkles, decorations and holders, stands required, lollies, chocolates, raffle prizes and much more.!!

Support your local IGA store before the big chains, they in turn support good causes.!!!

Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Well done to your wife Cruisindub, although I somehow doubt the RSPCA would like how we get our food creatures and the like.

Wife has had some tremendous support from local small businesses, in what can be considered a tough economy at this time.
Such as the Local North Road IGA store support by supplying all the ingredients necessary for the 500-1000 cupcakes estimated to be baking for the weekend of the 19th.
Local small pet stores have donated what I consider to be quite Large donations from small stores and family run businesses.
Local wineries have donated boxes of wines and other gifts for raffle prizes.
Local kitchen places have agreed to support with supplying cake racks and baking trays required.
Local printers have printed the posters, advertising and other printing.
Other Local stores have given verbal support, with confirmation and pick up of prizes and equipment over next couple of days.

Then you get the likes of large stores like, take Coles for instance, that has donated $30 gift card to be spent in store for possible ingredients.........
The large 'Spotlight' store donated 4 x oval plastic trays, they were on clearance price for $0.50 each, total of $2.....
The large 'Officeworks' store refused to do anything, not even a discount on the cost of printing......

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES, !!!

Sorry Cruisindub, your comment about supporting the local business made me laugh.  We only have one shop here, a bit hard not to support it.

Tjupurula,

Alot of people buy online, or through large chain stores and supermarkets, as its a couple cents cheaper...........etc.
These 'large' stores have donated very little when compared to family run, family owned, local stores, most being driven out by large corporations............

Some of the donations that have been offered to my wifes charity fundraising event are large expenses for small businesses on small margins.

Good on those small businesses, that really does make them worth supporting.  I dream of buying on line sometimes, but that requires a credit card or something like that....a black fella with a credit card, that would be one for the books.
