Jayco Outback Campertrailer Tyres & Rims

Just in the process of ordering a new Jayco Outback Campertrailer and have had a tyre expert recommend to go for different rims & tyres that what comes on the standard Jayco OB from their factory ie. 235/75R15/6ST. Suggestion was to go for 265/75R16/5ST. The same as our Landcruiser so that if we get stuck with two flat tyres somewhere remote we could interchange spare tyres from our vehicle. I'm looking for any advice on this before we go ahead and confirm plans. Thanks in advance.

Certainly a worthwhile change if t isn't too much more.

Not only good to have a second spare, but it can be a pain to get at one of the spares, if you have two avaialble then you have options.

Having said that we did that when we ordered our camper, then prompty upgraded the tow rig so it doesn't match anymore. To retrofit will be very expensive so doing it first up is a good option if avaialble.

Hi Mate, I have a 200 series Cruiser and a Complete Campsite Hard floor camper.  Same rims, same there's all around, we do a lot of 4wd and towing so it all makes sense, can also rotate tyres between Cruiser and camper if needed

Despite our attempts to get rims/tyres and hubs on our new Jayco Camper that will match our Landcruiser, we've had no luck. Jayco will not accommodate a request for 5 stud hubs, just as our Landcruiser has. They will ONLY put 6 stud hubs on. Crazy when you think that many, many people own a Landcruiser simply because they need it to tow their van or camper. As I said before, it makes so much more sense to have the availability of more than one spare tyre....especially when using the OB Jayco for what it was intended for.....going Outback! Anyway, nevermind. There's the option of changing hubs after sale if cost isn't a problem...it is for us! Grrr.  Thought it worth mentioning for others to be aware of.

I  would personally push the point if it was mine, after all you are parting with a reasonable amount of money.  Complete campsite are also geared up for 16" rims but they certainly accommodated my request to fit the 17" 5 stud for the 200 series, now that's customer service, sometimes the bigger companies become inflexible which is not good for the customer.

Maybe the production line (?) can't do it, but it'd be nice if they could do it at dealer level

Begged and pleaded...but with no success & no negotiating possible. It's either the 15inch rims or the 16inch...just no option of 5 or 6 studs. Excuse given was that one particular car company keeps changing the number of studs between 5 & 6 and at some point Jayco had to make a stance and choose one or the other (5 or 6) for it's vehicles. Now....if it was the colour of the cushions inside....we'd have at least 4 choices. It seems that common sense and good old fashioned thinking ahead has been lost in the factory somewhere. The purchase, for us, has been a very big learning curve.

Toyota changed Cruiser to 5-studs (from 6) about 15 years ago... but not Prado or Hilux. So, maybe not a very solid reason/excuse
