Straddie during September School Holidays
« on: July 25, 2013, 01:29:39 PM »
Has anyone camped on Flinders Beach during the September School Holidays before?  We're thinking of heading over for a week and just not sure how busy it gets.  Unfortunately I can't get there earlier, so will be those people driving around looking for a spot.

Any ideas of how busy it gets would be great.

Spent some time there last year some family and their camping group. Was busy but they secured a good spot
We had a great trip.
Looking at going for a week this school break.

Hi,
I have stayed on Flinders beach the last few September holidays but only for an extended weekend.
There always seems to be people coming and going and we have been able to get a spot for up to 3 camper trailers together each time we have been there.
Just booked for the Oct long weekend today.
Cheers

Sounds good.  We are heading over on our own, so only need space for one camper.  Will give it a shot.  Can always head to Main Beach if Flinders is too busy.

Don't get caught out with no booking as they only take a certain amount of bookings for each of the camping areas on Straddie at a time. You need to specify the area you want to stay at when booking.

Just book for Main Beach and you won’t be disappointed.

also book the barge in advance
many is the time I have watched frustrated travelers waiting at Cleveland for a free spot on the barge (sometimes all day) or overnight  :cup:

this is very important now as all the one company and the bigger capacity barges have been moved to Gladstone so the availability is down
