Where to dry saturated tent?
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:23:29 AM »
Help!!!
We are saturated down at Kurrimine Beach.  Does anyone in cairns area know where we can set the camper up for a few days when we return to dry out.  We may need to dry out also but rehab should fix that  ;D  An area about 6m x 6m would be good.  Are there any businesses with yards that can be locked who may be able to help.  Our own yard won't take both tent and annex.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Cheers

How about taking the annex off?  You can just lay it elsewhere to dry. We use the back deck, but I imagine draped over a vehicle etc would work too.

Then you only need enough space for the camper and a dry day.

I have a similar problem, went camping two weeks ago with a full wet pack up. Hopefully today the Melbourne weather will hold and I can dry it out in the drive. I had it out last weekend but it was still not quite dry, will get the heater inside it today as well I think

Thank you everyone, it is our first camp with complete annex up and had just worked out where all bits attached to each pole etc and felt pretty chuffed, and although it was overcast it didn't occur to us what might lay ahead weather wise, we have lived in FNQ for nearly 20 years. The rain started early Thursday evening and progressively became worse, pooling started on annex roof, then the tent roof then dripping everywhere apart from over our bed.  Same in the morning until about midday and then it all vanished although cloud cover remained heavy and low.  Yesterday, Saturday, when we climed out of bed it seemed we were in another land.  No wind, glassy ocean, not a cloud to be seen and straight into the Champagne!!!
Today is the same although a little more breeze. It is beautiful :D and all is good in the world haha!!

GG....the problem up here is mould, not sure if the camper would fair well closed up for that long, hope yours dries out okay.

HEM19X.... :D  probably the day after your holidays finish!!  Normally it is dry season now but we are camping in gum boot country.

Chris-Vi....clothesline sounds good!

Muzza01....will PM you

Redcherokee....we are complete novices at this.  All ideas and information are music to our ears. Most land space at our duplex has been filled with garden but I think at the moment we maybe all okay and will have another champers!!

Luckily it has been cold and wet for the past couple of weeks so mould has not had a chance to appear. Camper up in the sun at the moment with the oil heater inside on high, will pack it up in the next hour or so as its drying nicely. Always a pain after a wet pack up.
