Nylex/Pope clear water hose for CT, 10 or 20 metres?
« on: July 19, 2013, 09:21:30 AM »
Hi folks
What size hose is more suitable, 10 or 20 metres. Has anyone had problems filling their tanks because the  hose was too short?

Maybe by the 20mtr, and a hose joiner incase you ever need it...
I'd say if you cant get closer than 10 mtrs you'd be in faeces.

I've got 15m and am a couple of metres short of the taps at my current camp site.

DON'T use garden hose it will taint the water taste.  "Food grade" water hose is not too expensive.

We had this problem recently (the tap was at least 20m away). I have now setup a pump that will pump from a jerry into the tank. Only problem with this is carrying the jerry full of water and itwill take longer to fill the tank.

I carry a 10m food grade hose set up as well as a 20l jerry but I only carry a 60ltr tank so using the jerry when the hose carn't reach isn't a big issue..

Mate, 2 x 10m with a joiner.  That way if the 10m reaches the tap, you only have a shorter hose to drain and roll up.

I was just about to come up with the same suggestion, but KB came up with first.  I don't know about the different types of hoses though, I thought a hose was just a hose, never heard of food quality or whatever it is.

Food grade has a liner which doesn't leave the water with a plastic taint.  Otherwise the same as garden hose.

Filling up via water hose wouldn't isn't an issue, a hot day just let it run a minute before filling ya tank, but have seen and tasted a few garden hose setups, between the tank and tap/pump on the ct, on a hot day it makes the water taste like a$$, and thats fine if ya want to carry around extra water but whats the point of that when you have a tank
