Cheers.

What sort of car will you have with you?
It's busy up here at the moment but here are a few things you could look into.
Mossman Gorge 15 mins from Port
Daintree Village 30 mins from Port
Creb Track - if open and if 4WD
Go over the Daintree Ferry - 45 min from Port
Cow Bay - usually quiet
Noah's Beach
Masons Waterhole
Cape Tribulation
If 4WD try going further and head up to Wujal Wujal on the Bloomfield track. You will start losing the crowds. Take you about 1.5 - 2 hours to go from Port to Wujal. The waterfalls there are cool. Stop of along the way at Emmagen or Woobada creek. I went through a few weeks ago and the water crossings were very low.
Around Cape Trib you could try to find the Blue Hole although its no longer sign posted and takes some local knowledge. Any of the beaches along the road are usually empty and are all great. Lunch at the Cafe on Thorton's Beach is great if your like Beer and Burger...

Anything that you do north of Port Douglas is sensational, amazing country...

Enjoy!

hard to find a quiet place over here this time of the season.

The CREB track is CLOSED ..

If your coming over the Daintree Ferry be at the Ferry crossing before 09:30 and plan on spending the whole day over here . Any time after 14:00 heading south will have an hour or more wait . Last week with the current strong winds , day tripper over here were still qued up heading south at 18:30 with an hours wait ahead of them... Oh and $22 for the experience of sitting in your car for an hour waiting on the ferry for a 3.5min ride ..

cheers

I'll have the 200 series, have no snorkel yet, so water crossings will have to be low enough to safely navigate. Thanks for the info, ill look into it, booked into the mantra portsea, wife likes the idea of the day spa or something like that.  Not for me though!

Cheers

No snorkel needed to get up the Bloomfield at the moment... No higher than .3 meter at any crossing, most are dry. It's a great drive, you won't regret it.

your right it wouldn't be the same ,, we could come and go when ever we wanted too .

I've lived here on and off for 30 years , I've never wanted a bridge , until this last 6 months . In reality I still don't want a bridge , but a second ferry would be a good idea ...

cheers

They just need to build a bridge. I don't care if they make it a toll bridge and match the current exorbitant ferry price - so long as you don't need to sit in a queue for 3 hours only for the ferry to then break down.

I'll second everything FalcOn has said. With the rain we've had recently, the Creb will be closed, but Bloomfield is a nice drive - the 200 will eat it up. As has been mentioned Woobadda ck is my favourite place to stop. If you make it all the way to Wudjal Wudjal, turn left as you head over the causeway and follow the track down to Bloomfield falls - it's a beautiful spot. Just watch for snakes and crocs.

It depends on how much of the day you want to use, as to whether you cross the ferry or not. You can still have fun south of the ferry if you only want to be away from the spa for half the day :). As FNQBuntip has said, plan for long waits at the ferry, so count on being over there all day.  The other option is to come back late - when we were up there visiting friends a month ago we came back over the ferry at about 10PM - had the "boat" (I use the term very loosely) to ourselves, but still needed to wait 10 mins for it to come get us.

Cheers,
Matt
