What to do and what's it worth??

Hi All

As some of you have already seen in my other posts my HDJ105 was rolled and now a write off :'(
The insurance company has agreed to pay me out (obviously for a lot less than the car has had spent on it) but did also sell it back to me.
So the question is what to do with the wreck ??? and what is it worth ???
It would be good for someone to do the same transplant to their cruiser (easier as all the mods are done)
So do I try and sell it "as is where is"
Do I strip it and sell the parts?
What is it currently worth??

Any help would be great

Well as the body and chassis are useless to anyone I would strip the parts that are salvageable, sell the body and chassis for scrap metal and then what ever you can get for the parts.
The motor and trans are worth a bucket load if still in good nick, the diffs and ecu are still worth money, most of the interior is still worth cash and then you have what ever else you have fitted that is still in good nick.

So in summary:
Strip what you can and fill the shed,
Take the body and any other scrap metal to the yard and get some cash.

I agree with EVO 100%.
If you could buy the wreck back for less than $10K then you know you will make some reasonable money.
Salvage everything you can. Besides the obvious running gear there is money to be made on door trims rear doors, taillights, wheels seats, dash.
Hopefully the insurance company will except an offer you can afford.  Sorry about your bad news hopefully you can make some money back.  good luck.

I guess it depends on the storage space you have and the time. What will be your replacement? Would you want to do the conversion again to another cruiser?

While you would make some $$ back, have a good think about your time involved etc. Took me a while to get rid of some of the parts on the wreck we bought for the conversion, some bits went quick others didn't. In the end a lot of the larger items (metal) went to scrap, and the rest to the tip - needed the garage back. (However still have some bits like the dash)

Another point to consider is do you want to be constantly looking at what happened for the next few weeks or months. How about the family, do they want to keep seeing it, or do you wish to move forward?

Which ever way you choose it will be the right one, just consider what works best for you and your family.

This is the dilemma
Thinking it would be good and a fast sale to list it complete on eBay or something like that?
I do have a empty bay at the moment :'(
Can not decide what to replace it with! maybe a 150 Prado maybe a 76?
I do not want to go through the conversion again (as fun as it was) because I do not want another 100 after all the work I did to this one.

The mental side of things with having the wreck in the shed is only one you and your family can answer. The upside is, once it's stripped then the body and chassis are no good to anyone so they can get scrapped asap.
The main items should go quick, and allot of the other parts if you haven't gotten rid of in a time frame that you set can be sold to a 4wd specialist wrecker.
I did this with my old GQ. I had allot of trim pieces from the car that didn't sell, however made a bit of coin selling it to the wreckers.
The upside is the big ticket items like the motor and trans should go quickly for reasonable money.

It depends mostly on what you have the time for really. But yes you SHOULD make more off of it, by parting it out yourself. Hence why wreckers are big business.

You could always sendthe whole car to me out here in the desert, no matter what condition it is in, it will probably look better than some of the vehicles that are driven around this community and Balgo Hills...  ;D 8) ;D 8)

That's very true, after driving along the Tanami, we did observe a few wrecks that were still moving, but only just ;D

remember you don't get retail for most things.. somethings you think are worth a grand will sit there for months trying to sell....

if your not going to do another swap, then I'd sell as is.

This may be the first option I think. Try and sell it complete to someone wanting to do the conversion.
If that doesn't work then strip it.
Now what to ask for it??

Flocky the question is what are you willing to pay for it before you decide what you are willing to sell it for.  I love buying and reselling cars/wrecks off places like gumtree to make some $.
Don't get the wrong idea about me but I will certainly pay $ to people who are desperate to sell or don't know what things are worth.  I then resell to make a few $.  Don't fall n the "couldn't be bothered negotiating basket" Flocky.
You and I know what this vehicle is worth, we both know what $ you can make, never accept the first offer and don't sell this wreck as a bundle. You can make some $ here, be patient and be wise.
Don't let your emotions interfere with negotiations, I know how much love, blood sweat and tears you have put in to the Cruza. Don't let tht cloud your vision. Just because its out of sight does not mean it is out of mind.  I wish I could talk to you face to face instead of the forum. Hopefully you get where I am coming from. Good luck. Muz

Sometimes you have to know when one door closes ready for another to open. Bit of a problem when none of the bloody doors close though.
