I have a Mk3, lucky for me I got it when the prices were a bit more reasonable.

There is a Mk2 for sale on P4x4 right now, $250 with all fitting kit and painted 531 White.

Have I missed something here with all this talk about bigger scoops?  Doesn't this point from the cut n pasted comment mean a bigger scoop is going to do nothing more?

Quote
Once the scoop cavity has filled with air (compressed too it's limit), no more air can enter the scoop, so it flows over the top of the scoop, which is why rain droplets or pieces of ribbon, stand up & over the top of the scoop, giving the appearance that no air is going through the intercooler at all.

Doesn't the scoop fill with air and become compressed because the air is restricted by the intercooler core?  On this basis the limitiation of air through the intercooler is not the scoop, but the intercooler itself?  If you improved the flow (reduced the restriction) of air through the intercooler then a bigger scoop maybe valid and help feed more air over the intercooler, but if you are using the standard intercooler then my understanding from the quoted point above is that the standard scoop is big enough to supply enough air flow.... ???

Maybe I've missed something in this conversation?

I dunno about the site where the quote was cut n pasted from.......

They also loudly state that the bonnet protectors are a huge no-no. I've run mine with and without the protector, and it made stuff-all difference to EGT's either way.

I suspect there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on there.

Seems to me that the real players make the least noise about it all..........

Only just seen this thread.

To be quite honest, the best mod I did to improve performance and economy...........4.3 diff gears.
With 33s brought everything back to factory. Yes the denco swap improved things, pump and boost is factory - only fuel was increased, and with vehicle weight of close to 4t loaded for a trip, 5th gear overtaking no issues and over $1.30 by the time im at the front of the road train.

If I'm towing, I use a lower gear-higher revs and watch the egt gauge. Always under 500.

Just my observations and opinions.
2005 4.2TD ST Patrol 4 door ute, lifted, locked, ARB barred and Warn winched, 33" Cooper ST Maxx.....and a denco turbo upgrade! mmmm power.....

Easiest way I know, is to just take a pic with the camera and post it.

This was the results prior to any work being carried out.

Bear in mind that this vehicle runs 285/75/17.

Now this is the results of it after the work was carried out.

Now some may say it hasn't changed much but I will say it now pulls better than it ever did.

Mike had asked if the previous owner did many high way miles in it as there was a large amount of carbon built up in the exhaust.

If anyone knows Victoria well. But all this car mainly did was travel from Mooroopna to Shepparton daily which is only about 6klms. It did do some highway miles but know where near as many as it should.

I defiantly will be recommending Mike Vine to everyone. Yes he may not have been the cheapest but the customer service I received was second to none.
