URGENT HELP NEEDED COMPUTER

ok please help guys and gals.

I have sat for 2 days making a montage for my mate Blackie RIP , I have used windows live movie maker and its photos with music. Windows 7.

now I bought DVD-R  discs.

I have burned a copy but it wiont play in the DVD player and funeral home has a system set up but I need a dvd to use it.

How do I format this burn so it will play on a dvd player or is this limited to only computers.

I am in desperate situation with time against me and would appreciate any advice ..I am computer stupid so easy instructions LOL

Yes mate it plays in 3 other lap tops but not as a DVD in a dvd player and thats what i thought I was doing LOL

Can you just take your laptop and plug it into their screen?   Kevin

Very sorry to here about you friend..

is there any chance they will let you plug a laptop in?  (I would have a spare laptop you could borrow if you needed one)

converting it to a DVD could be a real pain,  and as I'm as artistic as a brick I don't normally do this sort of thing

Can you try a +R disc. SOme of the older DVD players can be real picky. Is it finalized? any video converter is free.

Even a different band. I used to have heaps of dramas with discs. Good luck.

Yup, you most likely have a .wmv file, you need to convert it to a DVD with DVD maker

Did you burn it as a data Disc or as a movie disc or??

Understand your drama and the range of responses you are getting.  Also might need to check that the funeral home has an appropriate player. Maybe need to get them to download a freeby such as Real Player.

Old Blackie would be pissing himself laughing watching me and Elle go for 3 days through 1000,S of photos and making this montage. If he was not gone already I rekon I,d kill him for putting me thru this. LOL

Guess I know once this is done the real hurt starts.


Thank you to absolutely everyone Esp SImon (username unknown) please step forward mate , he just called me at home telling me his brother in law is a computer programmer on Bribie Is and he called in a favour for me . I called his BIL   who gave me some advice and even offered to come over to my house to get it done if I still struggle.

WOW is all I can say, this is a camping forum that is touching the lives of so many people right now and I am eternally grateful for all you strangers who will at the drop of hat rally to help a member in need. Hats off to everyone.

if the place wants a DVD, then do as they ask is my sugestion. we had a friends funeral 2 weeks back, and when another friend of ours who was doing the DVD montage couldn't get it to work like Jet is having problems doing, she rang the funeral peoples office and was told a memory stick would be ok to use. on the day, the guy running the show at the funeral had no idea what to do with the memory stick (only knew about DVD's) and was super rude to our friend like it was her fault and it didn't happen as it was supposed to do.

Great news guys I have sorted it out Thanks to Simon and everyone else.

1,  I have a DVD copy that plays in my player (I will even take the actual player in the car just in case)

2,  I have a usb stick with it on

3,  I have a CD which can play on their computer or ours in disk drive with Windows media player

4,  I have my lap top with it saved on the homepage

So I will buy a lead tomorrow from lap top to tv/media system the three componets  plugs red ,White Yellow I,m told  that will cover options 2,3,4.

Can anyone think if I have missed anything.

Sorry I could not talk more the other night as I was still at work. I hope my BIL Chris was 'polite' and worked out your issues. He is not a forum member yet but is possibly interested in getting into the camper trailer scene. We will have to work on him.

I am based nearby on the Sunny Coast and visit Bribe often. Might see you down there at some stage.

I think I might put together a bit of a memorial camping trip for my old mate with a massive fire just as he would have liked it stay tunned .
