It is with great regret that this Wednesday 29th May at

Centennial Memorial gardens 353 Wacol Station road Sumner @ 2Pm and afterwards at Centenary hotel 96 sumners Road middle Park.

We will say goodbye and pay our respects to Shane Colin Blacker (Blackie) as most of us new him.

In accordance with Blackies wishes ,Bright coloured clothing and no flowers , donations in lieu to "BLACKDOG INSTITUTE"

Blackie was Family to me and took me in as a wayward young man giving me guidance and  a roof over my head. I will be forever in your debt my Friend, my Brother , my Mate.

Many of you may have met Shane and Elle (The Blackers)    out and about, they have been on the road for 5 years, and travel with a F250 with a Kedron caravan. Shane was well known on the Kedron owners Group and Patrol forum. If anyone has a Patrol forum membership it would be greatly appreciated if you could post this up there for me.

Blackie you fool you will be forever missed.

Love   "O"

Jetcrew.

RIP mate...
Sharon and I had the pleasure of meeting Shane and Elle about 10 years ago when he was still working for Aust Post. Shane always had a smile, a kind word or was willing to lend a hand. Over the years we have run into them in remote outback towns enjoying life on the road. One of my fondest memories was arriving at a Patrol forum camp and Shane running over with whipper snipper in hand ready to cut the grass to make it flat for Sharon and Tish.
All the best to Elle..... Happy trails mate.

Sure does mate , I'm not sure how I feel just yet as I am flat out with funeral preparations and sorting thru photos with Elle.

Such a sad loss but I guess it,s not our job to try and reason why but to remember a Life well lived.

Well I have only been reading between the lines and had never met the man involved, but I as sure as sh%t know that if that black dog starts sniffing around near you it can be a terible and lonely fight against him, no matter how much family you have to rally around you, but if he gets inside your defences the consequenses can be terrible and devastating for the family left behind.
My condolanses to his family.

I do not know who the person was when alive, I can see however that he is well remembered, which means, within what I believe, that he is not gone, he has but gone to the spirit world.  If one is constantly remembered, then how have they been lost to anyone.

Agree totally with this, Keith.
If the black dog is with you, ASK FOR HELP. Talk to whomever will listen, Beyond Blue are also VERY HELPFUL, (one of our regular charities at home).
Having the bugger tag you around should not have the stigma attached to it that it does, but it is what it is.
Do not try to beat the black dog on your own.
