New Sunshine Coast Crew
« on: May 14, 2013, 06:17:28 PM »
Hi Folks

like many before us we have been long time lurkers and really enjoyed the massive amount of information on this site.

Im on my way early tomorrow morning to pick up our new to us Australian Off Road Camper. Its a 2010 model with all the usual bells and whistles, then home to pack it for a northern adventure over the next few weeks. We leave on thursday or friday and will hit Calliope, then stay at Eungella for a while and wet a line, then Alligator creek and on to Atherton where the brother in law is. Some more time camping at Tinaroo then wander up to Cooktown. No fixed plans just follow the weather check out the sights and fish a few impoundments in the tandem Hobie. We are putting a blog together so feel free to check it out and follow along. luckily we are in a position where we can wander off every second weekend or so with longer trips mixed in down south up north or wherever the mood takes us!!

And yes there will be plenty of pics to follow!!!

Hi Kit_e_kat9, your blogs were part of our inspiration to buy a camper!  The simple fact that so much of what you do is close to us and places we have previously visited on day trips your Blog has always interested us.

Hopefully we will cross paths in our adventures.  Happy camping.

Shan and Shae.

Welcome to the forum. You obviously don't mind supporting locals with your purchases either I notice ;)

Wow, it is great to hear from so many of you (especially the 'Locals'), thanks for your replies!.  We are excited about our trip, though if you check out the Blog you will see our trip has been 'dampened' to say the least!  It's all good, tomorrow will be sunny.  Hopefully we will come across all of you in our travels.  Cheers Shan and Shae

Great pics.

Is that a Hobie Outfitter you are using for the fishing?

Hi JCAT

Its actually the Oasis. We bought it on the recommendation of Sunstate Hobie for a few different reasons.
Its basically a newer version of the Outfitter, it has a large storage hatch in the bow. the real clincher was that it can be operated from either the front or rear position by one operator. The Outfitter can only be operated from the rear if going solo and generally also needs some extra weight to counter balance. We absolutely love the Hobie its so easy and comfortable to use and its amazing just how fast they are. You can cover some serious kms without even realising it!! And as keen fishos your hands are free the entire time to cast and fish.

Speaking of the Oasis Hobie, we fished Tinaroo yesterday and Shae pulled a huge barra.

Check it out in the last blog post
