Townsville. V8 Supercars round up here this week, starting with practice today.
There’s not a native left in the area we’re camped (approx 1.2km from nearest portion of the ‘trasck’), they all leave town when the petrol heads turn up >:D

My uncle was stationed here for several years back in the 60s/70s while in the Army. He has mixed memories. It's all peaceful now though, just the sound the occasional Beirut fertiliser store exploding to break the tranquility.
