Well today has been different so far.
I will admit I have struggled with today, hard to put it in words actually.
This morning I did not go to dawn service. This is the first one I have missed since I can remember.
Some in uniform and some not.
Instead this morning I sat out side looking at monument hill from my backyard with my tags in one hand and a rum in the other watching the sun come up.
Today is not a day we celebrate war, nor a day we celebrate death. Today is a day we remember and give thanks to those who put our countries well being before their own.
Today I sat outside and thought of my mates I went through basic with, those that have returned and who I still get to share a drink and a laugh with.
I also thought about those that we no longer can.
Not a day goes by where I do not think of those that I new personally through either basic, IET's or from units that came home in spirit.
Today is a day where we remember and thank those souls and those that still serve giving their all for us at home.
Every one who serves does so for different reasons. For me it was my family.
RIP boys, you gave your all and then some. You will live on for eternity as warriors that have no equals, as warriors in eternity.
Milo, miss you mate.
Cheers
