Remove gas bottle from front boot - Jayco

Haven't had to do this YET, but..... looking at the setup of the gas bottle in the Dove Outback, seems to me to be not so simple without some effort.
Am I wrong ........... ?
Does anyone have a trick apart from standing on the draw bar & holding the boot lid open with my head while i drag the bottle out?
Appreciate any suggestions

I've got a 2011 swan outback, it has bottle in the front boot , you can't get a 9kg bottle out without sliding in the bed , you might but you would break something for sure , what I did is i got rid of the copper pig tail and put a flexi hose on and put a 4 kg bottle next to it for emergency , so if the 9 kg runs out just change the hose over !

We went for the twin gas bottles.
But honestly it is a piece of cake to slide the bed in and open the boot up.
We were concerned when we purchased our Hawk that the gas bottles were not on the draw bar. Turns out we were worried about nothing, it really is not that big a deal + 1 9kg bottle lasts for ages.

I'd have to agree it is a piece of cake. We also have twin 9kg bottles in a 2012 Swan.  We have had to fill one bottle so far an nearly ready to do the second.  That's the only issue with two bottles. Shuffling them around when one is empty. If we head of for a weekend of a short stay I have been leaving one bottle at home.  A trick I have found is to disconnect the gas strut on the boot lid and open it vertical for really easy access.  Obviously not when the bed end is out.  I have removed a bottle with the camper setup and it was a real pain.  It would be quicker and less painful to just slide the bed end in.

Hey Brooky any chance of a photo and details of where you got the flexi hose from.  Those pig tails are so stupid and they in themselves make it more difficult to remove the bottles.

Thanks for the replies..... I was aware the bed would have to be in. A mate also recommended I do away with the copper pigtail & replace it with flex.... will go shopping.

Here is the hose got it from carac trailers in Dandenong Victoria, ,they come in different lengths, this one is 600mm long , think it cost about $30

Ok the story goes that the copper pigtails are used by Jayco and other manufactures because the flexible hoses can break down causing the regulator to fail.  Not my opinion hence the reason I asked where to purchase the flexi hoses.  After a little research the regulator issues and the pigtail solution kept coming up.  Food for thought.  It's not 100% known if the issue is related to rubber hose failure or contaminated gas, but pigtail are the go apparently.

I changed the pigtail to flex BUT kept the pigtail in case of ........

Had no trouble with the hose, it's been on there for over 12 months  ,a mate of mine has got a 2010 swan and at Easter his regulator packed it in and he's got the pig tail , horses for courses I suppose!
