Blue Rag no longer such a Challenge.
« on: April 22, 2013, 12:07:46 PM »
Just got sent this image by a mate.  the summit to Blue Rag (near Mt Hotham) has been widened and smoothed for better access during the last fire season, it was a control line at the time.  Camper freindly now!

Others may have some pre widening images to stick up.

I cant see how many firetrucks would want to get stuck at the summit during a fire.. Why widen it :(

It was widened for back burning ( a wider break makes it easier) and smoothed to allow easier access for CFA and DSE gear.

A few years and a bit of traffic and it will return to the way it was.

Was up there this mornin. Not the clearest weather, overcast but cloud free great view. Track was smooth and gravelled. Busy for a week day 12 vehicles on the track. Still need a low range vehicle. Steep in places. Magnificent views, had a great morning. BradR

We are making our way up blue rag for the first time tomorrow, we're camping at buckland river and although the track looks easier the views still look worth it. cant wait!
