picked up the new camper (sorry no pics yet ) and have had to send it back with a few minor issues , nothing major but would like some feedback.
1.lights wern't LED.-this has been rectified.
2.leaking connection on 12v pump.-this has been rectified
3.axle wasnt underslung as requested.-need to take it to contractor (annoying.)
4.no window strips re: to hold windows when you unzip the plastic -new model doesnt have them.
5.soft spot in the floor where the extra water tank was installed.-just recieved confirmation that contactor will install extra bracing.
So overall pretty happy with the new model and cant really complain about the aftermarket service.
Curious if anyone else has had these issues.
Promise new pics next week.

Ours not quite so bad but little things were crap.

No reason they cant get it right but they sell so many they probably dont care which is sad.

Enjoy the overall machine though !

Just roll the window inside itself, that is between the still unzipped window and the flyscreen. Even when it is completely unzipped it still works to a point. At least thats what we used to do, even though we had the plastic strips.

My 2011Penguin only has the plastic strips above the cooker - nowhere else!

So did my flamingo, as others said, roll them into themselves. This is why the zippers don't go all the way to the bottom so that it creates a pocket for them to sit in

Have had our eagle back to jayco (camperland) here in Brisbane twice for little bits and pieces, nothing is to much bother for them. If the factory got it right like these people do there never would have been any problems in the first place. Im one happy customer, (so far).

There was a thread a while back with a checklist of things for new jaycos.

Maybe they shouldn't have spent so many millions building the new plant in Dandenong, save a few grand and hired a couple of people do to quality control... Specially for the price. Just disappointing for the new owners who want to just hook up and drive off into the sunset

We bought a new eagle outback last year and have the following list so far:
Broken door clip (top zinc die cast wing nut thing)
Velcro on the door in gluing
Rust in the alko stays
Velcro spots that hold the seat cushions on have come off due to being screwed in at an angle.

Ill get its first service next week and hopefully get these issues sorted.
In general I really like Jaycos product. You get a hell of a lot of camper for the price you pay. But, having worked in manufacturing all my adult life, I always find it sad to see things made wrong when it is just as easy to make it correct with a little bit of care.

I have had similar issues with my Swift. So far the local franchise has been very very good, but it is still disappointing that these issues have come up to be fixed.

I have had some minor issues with our Eagle but I purchased knowing that

1. Jaycos are built to a price
2. Quality control seems to be driven by those that purchase
3. The warranty is honoured and the local dealer has been fantastic
4. This forum would help me to fix most things I would encounter

Not trying to hijack a Jayco thread, but if it makes any of you feel any better I came across several of these style of annoying manufacturing glitches with my GS, and everyone knows the price premium paid for these and the supposedly superior build quality.
1. Rear water tank filler breathing hose installed incorrectly. Made it impossible to fill, and needed relocating.
2. Off road pack ordered, and supplied with twin battery pack. Given this you would think it obvious the intended use was away from powered sites, yet the van came with not 1 single 12v power point. At the time I was very "green" with regard to these things and it never occurred to me to even ask.
3. Cover trim to wheel arch edging came off due to inadequate glue and silicone application.
4. Plywood divider between internal storage cupboard under front lounge not screwed properly. This panel stops anything put in here from spilling into the next area which houses the gas HWS. First time I put stuff in it pushed thru, and the HWS cupboard is screwed shut from above. Removed to find the plywood divider had been put in place and screws inserted thru it into thin air.
5. Plastic window straps have all failed due to the pitiful 1 row of thin stitching holding them to the body
6. Galvanised chassis painted with 1 coat of standard spray can paint without proper primer. Result: peeling paint and shoddy appearance
7. Rear bumper bar jerry can holders attached to rear bumper bar after painting/galvanising. Result: surface rust appeared after first trip to beach.
8. Switch for 12v water pump installed not square to cupboard edging. Looks crap.
9. Jack supplied with van incorrect. First flat tyre I got the jack out and proceeded to lift van until the lifting height limit was reached and the van wheel was still on the ground. Swapped by dealer after much angst.
There were other issues, but at least you can see these things are not limited to just jayco. Good luck everyone.

It seems to be a common issue across most (not all) modern Australian manufacturing. Then the workers wonder why their jobs get sent off shore. The funny thing about Jayco is they promote their stage gate quality system which in theory should guarantee a quality product. Yet I don't know anyone who has bought and received one of their campers / vans and not had an issue.

It seems that it is just expected that, 'thats just the way it is'!

Quite sad that you have to accept it and make, excuses ..... shouldn't matter how much you paid, how many are made, there should be pride in the work done.

Both well put.

Maybe the pressure to pump out trailers at the rate Chinese can make them causes the issues with QC... maybe its the quality of some staff an pay rates. I know here at work, they pay 1/100th McDonalds rates and wonder why nobody cares.

Well, there you go nbd!! , not many G.S owners on here have the balls to admit any faults with a G.S - usually too busy bagging jaycos and blowin' hot air about how Goldies are so much better.

Well done - that's certainly more issues than I've ever had with my Hawk (complete with Hot Dip Galv chassis....) and I've covered some serious k's in the past 2 years

I also had a s%$t load of little niggles/issues. in 12 months (although not very rough areas) I have completed over 70 nights in my Swan. At the 12 month service/warranty review they fixed everything I asked and any easy "improved" things like the internal bed pole clip inserts were changed without asking., and moved the gas external bayonet to a different area at my request without charge.

They also completed the 12 month service and said that the wheel bearing were still in good nick so gave me a set of Alko wheel bearings as well, as spares. I am in an industry that has many complaints due to products and services and its how you rectify them that ultimately matters. Although as others have mentioned I wish it was perfect

Seems a few owners with issues, but also some with good stories of them getting settled.

So, who covers this 'warranty/service' work? Is it Jayco direct or the reseller?

Whos offering the aftersales back up?
