Teewah beach from Noosa North Shore with the Swan?
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:18:23 AM »
Is it possible? Will we get stuck? Brother wants to go & I'm unsure, I don't wanna get stuck or wreck the camper. We normally stay at inskip but thought we'd try Teewah this time. Except I'm not convinced!

i guy in the office spent last week up at teewah, he towed his pop top (slide out beds) van up........he confirmed there is a hundreds of meters of coffee rock exposed and that you can only travel at low tide i.e. an hour or so either side of low

he did walk some sections to eyeball some of the holes in the coffee rock, you do get helo up a bit waiting for traffic to get across some sections

there is a link to some ch. 10 footage on here somewhere

Beach driving warning
11th Apr 2013 10:34 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THOSE travelling around Teewah Beach are urged to exercise caution.

Exposed coffee rock, severely eroded beaches and changing beach conditions pose a risk for motorists travelling to Teewah Beach and Freshwater camping areas, Double Island Point, Rainbow Beach, Inskip Peninsula and Fraser Island.

Milder weather conditions have resulted in better beach driving conditions for Teewah Beach, however vehicle travel around the exposed rocky outcrops is strongly recommended to within 90 minutes either side of low tide.

High-clearance 4WDs towing trailers and boats should be able to negotiate the hazard with caution.

Beach conditions may improve in coming days.

Drivers should remain alert, drive within your skill

levels and drive to tide and beach conditions at all times.

Be aware that beach conditions change on a daily basis and seek local advice wherever possible.

Avoid taking unnecessary risks.

Was there for easter. Alot of coffee rock but easy to do. By pass 80% if you travel at low other wise nice and slow over the rocks. High tide forget it. There is no beach.

When are you planning on going? Looking at the forecast for this weekend, I'd bet the beach will be in worse shape in a couple of days......

Thanks guys, we are going next week. I think I just want to stick to inskip. I hate to say it but I'm too scared to take the camper on the beach. I mean if we get stuck we are stuffed, where as at least if we get stuck in the soft stuff away from the water you have as much time as you want to get yourself out!

That's a shame. It would be very, very difficult to get stuck unless you try to drive at high tide. Even then there are enuff spots to drag the vehicle & CT off the beach. Why not give it a try for something different? Having camped at both areas I know where I'd rather go. If you don't intend going to Fraser and you don't have a boat its a no brainer for me. But each to their own, inskip is still better than sitting around home. Just trying to encourage you.

Ohhhhh thanks! I don't know, I'm just a bit of a Scaredy cat. I think I would feel better about going there if I can drive through (without camper) and have a look at where to camp and why it's like to drive before we actually give it a go if you know what I mean. It does sound nice there though. I have been but never taken much notice of where to camp and the driving conditions change all the time too I spose.

Why don't you camp at freshwater camp ground, you should have no problem towing the Jayco through the track from Rainbow. Far nicer camping spot than Inskip nowadays anyway. You can then check out the beach and decide if you want to go home down the beach and across on the ferry at Tewantin.

Yeah must admit we always camped right on the beach.... Damn I miss living in Noosaville, used to be great just shooting up to DI Point for the day or weekend then 5min to home once we got off the Noosa river barge.

Those pics bring back memories.... We spent 10yrs in Noosa from 1990 to 2000 and saw in the Millenium on Fraser around a huge bonfire at Happy Valley.

Edit.... Damn auto correct on IPad.....  >:(

Sicilianmama,

Please go to Teewah. I can't get up because my son has started soccer..........
Can you put up a sold sticker on a property on Beach Road for me?

Also my yard needs mowing so if you can arrange sicilianpappa to do that on your way up I will promise you, you won't get stuck..............

Depending on how far up you camp you are welcome to grab some fresh water from my place it may be closer than freshwater.......I am sure my tanks are overflowing at present. Pm me and I will give you the details of how to get to our house and you can fill up jerry's etc.

Cheers Nomad.

Good to see the Weber Q in the foreground: the essential tool to any successful camping trip is the ability to bbq. Just got the 220 for my 40th, courtesy of the generosity of the extended family.
And your phone takes fantastic photos, shame there wasn't more. Anyways, you have enuff info, encouragement and advice to decide if Teewah is good for you, its your trip & decision and whatever you do will be the right one. Enjoy either way.

Oh thanks so much! We have made our mind up tho that we going to stick with inskip this time and take a drive down and have a good look around Teewah so we know a bit more about it for next time. I know it's the easy way but I just don't want to go there when I'm unsure.

Thank you so so much for the kind offer though! Hm not sure whether the other half would be too keen to pack the mower sorry! Lol

hello all
was up along the beach today. saw lots of small vans and trailers along the camping strip. the beach was alitle soft and narrow in spots at low tide. the rocks were not a problem if you were sensible. next week may be diferent with higher than normal tides. but i gess its just take your time and drive according to conditions of the day.
