Expensive caravan park for storage?
« on: April 09, 2013, 08:13:46 AM »
We wanted to store our camper trailer for one night somewhere around the north of the Gold Coast.  Phoned one park, Gold Coast Holiday Park, and they wanted $42 for the one night!  Phoned a storage company who advertise for cars, caravans etc, but they only do a minimum of one week.  Phoned Dreamtime Caravan Park and they were only $20, so we will go there. But for the Gold Coast Holiday Park wanting to charge $42 to store one camper trailer for one night?  I suppose they can because they must be popular and we would have taken up a site.   Kevin

I'm sure some My Swag members down that way would give up some yard space for one night .......................

If not and north side of Brisbane isn't too far out of your way, you can park it in my yard for nix.  I have fenced yard with locked gates and 2 large dogs to keep an eye on it overnight.

Guess its their way of saying 'can't be assed'

Seems instead of people saying no, they outprice the task so you go elsewhere.
if you don't want the job, just put a high price and up to them if they pay it.
mind you, they might not have the free space, so you might have to pay for a full site. They might have also been abused in the past and now just set a price thats worth their hassle.
Presumed you phoned them directly andexplained the size, length of trailer, etc.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Likewise, you could park it in my yard behind locked gates.....    I'm probably a bit far away though.!

Thanks for the offers.  We have parked it and pick it up tomorrow, then off via Mt Tamborine to out west and further for our 6 (maybe longer) month trip.  WA here we come.  ;D   Kevin

If you need a place to camp around Moree, just let me know I will point you towards a nice spot on the river. Fish are on the chew at the moment too.
Cheers,
Mick
