Oh..the contrast
« on: April 05, 2013, 05:25:54 PM »
Here we are in our Aussie Jays camper. Pretty standard setup with Led lights, table, chairs, tailgate kitchen, cut in half 44 gal drum as a fireplace etc...  Pretty much your typical soft floor CT setup.
One side of us is Coleman tent with a nice friendly Asian couple and the bare minimal essentials and on the other side a new Jayco Optimum camper van towing a car has just rocked up and setup in 10 mins flat!

Probably couldn't get much more of a contrast in setups and budget but sitting here, tapping away. ..couldn't be happier.  The fish we caught today just about to hit the cooktop, drinks going down nicely, weather fantastic, life's good.    Definately no intention or need to keep up with the Jones's.

Definately no intention or need to keep up with the Jones's.

What the Jones's have only ever makes the Jones's happy.
I'm happy camping with what ever.   We've done it right from the cheapest BCF dome tent we could get and a hand-me-down gas cooker, cheap blue tarp and we stretched for a 5 day coleman cooler. We could fit all our gear and two dogs in the back of a GQ patrol wagon with room to spare.

Upgrade and replace and some extras to a decent canvas tent and modified tradie trailer the same coleman and new decent cooler that will hold block ice for over week.  Three generations of my family got out for the Easter weekend, that what really maters. Good friends/family getting out there have a good time.

I'd still be happy to roll out my swag, but my wife wants the tent, I guess that's the price I pay for getting my family out there.
Attention COMMODORE DRIVERS, there is a stick near your steering wheel that makes orange lights flash on the outside of your car!!! These are used to tell people in advance that you intend to turn a corner or change lanes.

The Jones's certainly have a nice setup but obviously at a different stage of life or needs to us.  The Jones's may be us in 20 years time so I won't be judging them.  Definately each to their own and nice to see all walks of life enjoying the same environments in their own way.

Btw.. The Flatties and Bream went down a treat.

And those in the tent are saying, look at those poor buggers near us, having all that stuff to pack up & then tow home!!!

I made an observation at Easter just with our group, there was 2 tents, a roof top tent, 3 soft floors of different levels,1hard floor, a camprite, 2 jayco eagle types, a jayco expanda and a full caravan..... It was like going to a camper show!
We all had the same fun and enjoyed sharing ideas .recipes and setups. There is so much to choose from now.Mine was the best though >:D ;D........
Love it.

When we go camping with our friends we have bit of everything hardfloors, softfloors, dome tents and touring tents. At the end of the day as long is the food is good the beers are cold (oh of course the scotch is plentiful) and there is a fire to keep you warm all is good.
