Boat covers, which ones?
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:52:03 AM »
Hi all

Moving house next week and I will unfortunately have to banish the 4.5m tinnie from the garage so the cars can fit in there. Therefore I am looking at a cover of some sort that will allow me to keep the rain and tassie frosts out. My CT has been outside for a year or more now and the cover shows no signs of perishing so a cover made of similar construction would be suitable. Question is where can I buy one from that will last like my CT cover has?

I have looked on a few boating camping websites and there are a plethora available at a vast range of prices. Which ones have you tried and tested and which ones to avoid?

cheers

If the missus has a sewing machine, consider cheap poly tarps. You can make one to fit the tinny like a glove. And when it's showing signs of giving up, make another one.

I had one of these covers on my tinnie, it isn't waterproof but it keeps most of the weather and UV out.

Yeah something along this line is what I am after. Don't mind having to pay a little extra for a breathable waterproof model either. Thing is there are so many available and I just want to get one that can last and protect my beloved boat.

What are CT covers made of as many boat covers say they are 9.4 oz poleyster canvas. Is this similar to most CT covers???

All my boat covers have been made by upholsteres.
I had one made for my fathers tinny, kept out the rain and can be used as a travel cover. Still going strong 4 yeats later.
Not exactly sure what material was used but worked great.
I would say go to your local trimmers and ask there. It cost around 500 from memory.
