They actually replace the valves and transmit to a hidden receiver.
The display is shown through the aux in on my head unit, but could easily be put into a small screen hidden neatly.

I paid around 280 for it from memory and has been running great for around 6 months so far.

I have been looking at different brands for a while now. Anyone know how you reset the low pressure warning for when you are on the beach where I run 18psi or gravel roads where I run around 25psi. The alarm would drive me up the wall furthur.

It all depends on the brand, on mine I just go into the settings menu and reset it too what value I want them to go beep beep at. 

On road though I have them set at 28psi

Thanks Evo, I thought you should be able to alter the pressures easily. Thats  the unit I have been looking at Mace. I need the 6 sensor kit. I did look at one brand that had the sensor strapped around the inside of the rim which seems like a good idea, but the thought of having to have the tyres refitted steered me away.

I have the Repco Tyredog 4 tyre unit, I wouldn't pay the extra $ for the 6 channel unit. I like being able to see all 4 tyre pressures on one screen which you can't on the Jaycar unit above.

Yep on mine as soon as the audible alarm comes on it puts the screen up.

I can add two more sensors for the camper but havent felt its required as yet.

Have had an issue with one of the sensors reading incorrectly so I contacted them direct and they have been good to deal with.

As you can see the drivers side trailer was reading 242psi, proberbly a little high one might say. They do seem to take a while to link up
some times but if it saves me from shredding one tire its paid for itself.

I use an organic TPMS. It cost nothing, it's wireless, and it does all 10 tyres........whenever it feels like it.........

I bought a Davies Craig TyreGaurd for an Australian supplier on ebay ( located in Salisbury in Brisbane)

It uses valve cap sensors back to a main unit which can be set at whatever pressure you want and can be changed easy. It also warns on over temp as well.

For a little over $200 bucks it paid for itself at least twice over on our Uluru trip last year.

I had two punctures both which were picked up before the tyre dropped 5 psi which allowed me to pull over while there was plenty of air left.

The amount of rigs with shredded tyres on them was amazing even our travelling companions did one tyre.

The unit comes with 4 sensors so i just used them on the rear of the Prado and on the camper as even on dirt you can maintain good feel of the front tyres.

Yeah they are standard fitment in the US of A after all the dramas they had with the Ford Explorer and Firestone tyres.

Our Hyundai has these as factory fitted....... they only detect significant deflation and trigger a light, they dont tell you which tyre etc.

I have been looking at these having destroyed 2 tyres in the last few years, the 6 chanel unit looks pretty good.

Too true. They should be standard and integrated. I'd like one but can't bring myself to have another screen/device on the windscreen.

Yep have the same system, pretty happy with it but am going to try and mount it somewhere in the new tug. I don't want it on the window anymore.

I am trying to talk LB into a TPMS, the DigOptions unit now has this capability which would mean no additional windscreen mounts. LB is too short for too many things on the windscreen, it will block her view.

I have a dash mat in the prado so i have put a bit of velcro on the back of the TPMS and just grip it onto the dash mat when travelling.

The rest of the time i just grip it to carpet on the  side of the console beside the drivers feet. I can hear the alarm from there if required but dont need the visual around town.

For those worried about the size, and having more stuff stuck to the windscreen, my tyreguard screen is around 5cm tall and is bluetacked to the centre console behind the low range lever.  The mount made the damn thing too big.  I have had 6 or so flats over 12 months- best investment.

Had the tyredog TPMS. Couldn't throw the thing far enough.......

The whole unit was sent back, twice, 3 senders "failed" all within 12 months and had batteries that would only last a few days (major drain somewhere in the sensors)

In the begining tyredog were great to deal with, but I think the continual failure of the unit and they wanted the unit returned not replaced, which I wanted saw us part ways.

They are a top idea however, there appears to be some problems. Hella used to sell an aftermarket one and they have since dropped it.
Why I don't know.

When there is a reputable mob selling them, I'll purchase again but until then.......................

Gee doc evil, my experience has been completely the opposite. My Tyredog unit just works and is still on the original batteries after 7 months.

I think the early units were good but I'm lead to believe manufacturing went elsewhere and quality went with it..............
