Well said Rockman and as far as I understand correct in every way, having been a local up here for what seems like forever.
Most places were used to campers and most campers gave a dam and cleaned up but nowadays there are so many slack arses that are destroying it for the rest of us.

Bit like the piggers, some good ones out there but some shockers too that have left cattle and horses in a sad state on some of these stations. No wonder the station owners are starting to burr up and say NO.

And as for the original post, yes we were only up at Emu Creek end of July and was not too bad at all.
Nice people and reasonable price, water was still high enough for a swim and had a ball relaxing by the fire.

Just so we are clear Rockman - the quad was on a trailer and was not used and was not intended to be used there, they were on their way back from my husbands relatives cattle station up the cape and going through to Dimbulah and just needed to stop for the night, the dogs they had were caged (our dogs are fully stock proof and always tied up or on a lead when camping among others) as we have our own cattle and small property and are fully aware of what irresponsible and disrespectful campers are capable of mate. We have never treated anyone's property with disrespect and never will.  In fact we usually clean up after others that have left broken bottles and rubbish behind. Any toilet ing that is done is always buried properly and only footprints and tyre tracks left behind when we leave. We have the greatest respect for others properties and travel through Kondaparinga via Mt Mulligan Station via Dimbulah regularly and always drop off some fresh fruit and veg to the Kondaparinga homestead if there is someone there as we go through as a thank you. So please do not assume that we are tarred with the same brush as the others that you speak of. Perhaps as I said earlier he needs to put signs up at the causeway regarding fees for camping there as there are many people who have camped there for years that are unaware like myself.

Just to clarify the boundaries of Cooktown Crossing for anyone that reads this. I have just looked up the database that shows Property Boundaries. (DNRM)
 
Australian Wildlife Conservation owns Brooklyn which borders the Mitchell river on the southern side. They have allowed campers to camp on their side of the river as long as they do not trespass beyond the gate. There is no fee for camping. If you pay money to the old fella there then all your doing is financing his yearly trip to Western Australia in the wet season. (lost money) There are no restrictions on animals or motor vehicles of any kind.
 
 
Curraghmore Sation is only on the Northern side of the river. You are not allowed to camp there without permission of Curraghmore Pastoral Company.
 
 
So, you can camp on the southern side between the fence and the river without fee, but don't annoy other campers as with generators and motorbikes either two or four wheelers especially before 8:00am or you may find sugar in you fuel tank.
 
There are going to be people who disagree with me but I can prove it so there
 
 
The mouse arrow shows the boundary between Brooklyn and Mitchell River. Slight rectification problem but doesn't change the fact that Brooklyn boundary is up against the Mitchell river.
