Oh yea, car designers are moving forward..
I don't think I just threw up in my mouth, the building is filling up.

Mercedes-Benz’s sub A-Class model will take the form of a compact SUV, according to a senior manager from the German car maker with knowledge of the new project.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity at the this month's Geneva motor show, the Mercedes-Benz manager revealed to Drive that development work had begun on a Volkswagen Polo-sized model boasting styling cues inspired by the 34-year-old G-Class.

“We have ideas for a B-segment [city-sized] car with a modern take on the traditional styling from the G-Class. We’ve already indicated a desire to extend the G-Class line-up with the Ener-G-Force concept shown at the motor show in Los Angeles, and this car is part of those plans.”

The compact Mercedes-Benz SUV, which is tentatively due to see showrooms in 2016, has been conceived as a rival to a new small Land Rover SUV previewed by the DC100 concept car and a production version of the Volkswagen Taigun concept car shown at last year’s Sao Paolo motor show.

Known to insiders as the City-G, the new entry level model is planned to be based on a joint venture platform being developed by Mercedes-Benz parent company, Daimler, and its alliance partner, Renault-Nissan.

On the upside at least its a small 4wd that is built for off road, not like the other small 4wds that are made to LOOK like they are built for off road and really are tarmac warriers!!

I like it! Thats one tough looking 4wd. It may not be the prettiest thing around but it looks mean :)

Thats actually the G Force Concept, full sized offroader on a G Wagon chassis.   The A class SUV design wasnt shown in the article, dont know if it even exists.

Yeah I think I like it. Doubt I'd like the price though. I did the detailing for the press release of the new G Wagon a couple of years back and although yes they're a bit on the ugly side, I found myself liking them.... Especially the AMG version. I don't know why you'd want one but tough as!!

Reckon the Niva would go further in the rough  than the Merc, and you wouldnt care if you dinged or wrecked it... probably be able to buy 200 Niva's for the price of that Merc ..
