Water tank hose

What type of hose do you use when you fill your CT tank? Garden hose, flat hose with reel, clear or black plastic hose with fittings.  I have no problem filing tank with garden hose but wondering what to use when you are out and about camping. As the show is on this weekend I might snag a bargain.

I bought 30m (yes, sometimes too long) of blue drinking water hose from Bunnings.
No taste, so the water in the tank does not taste bad, and doubles up as mains water hose when at caravan parks.
Fitted with brass fittings too.

Nylex make a food grade hose which is probably what MDSimpson is referring to. Available from BCF, Bunnings and possibly Clarke Rubber. You will require fittings for it.
Also handy to carry one of those 4 way tap security keys available from Bunnings.

I've been thinking about this lately and am considering something similar.
At the moment I just transfer water via a 20litre jerry. I can manage it but would be good to have a solution the little slaves..oops kids... could manage.

I currently have a in-line charcoal filter between my tank and kitchen tap.  This works pretty well and I am certain I can taste a difference between the filtered water from the kitchen tap vs unfiltered from my external tap.

I am thinking a 30m blue hose with tap fittings and a inline filter plumbed into it would be a good combination.  This would effectively double filter the kitchen water and would improve water coming out of the unfiltered tap.  Thinking of doing it this way so the hose and filter could be used for other mates campers.

Same same...

I will be filtering the water going into the tank, or mains pressure water, but I also have filtration (going in, not done yet) to the kitchen tap from the tanks.
I also have one of those multi security tap things in my camper 'utility draw'... Handy.

What is this thing you call the security thingy?  Where do I buy a filter from? Bunnings as well?  Might just buy the clear hose and fittings. Are the fittings, garden hose fittings? Thanks

Definitely recommend getting a proper drinking water hose.  Cheapest I found was at Bunnings

I've found that garden hose can make the water "taste"........I carry a length of drinking water hose.....

I bought a blue drinking house from Bunnings but have to flush the hose for a while to get rid of the plastic taste each time I use it.

I don't know why I bother though. The hoses fitted to my Kimberley leave a plastic taste within a day of water being put into the tank.

The filter on the kitchen tap helps but I can still taste plastic unless I run it for awhile. :(

The front water tank, accessed by the hand pump, is undrinkable due to a plastic taste.

We now always carry separate jerries of water for cooking and drinking.

Isn't it funny that water gets that plastic taste from the hose and yet not from the 20 litre jerrys. :D

Was it the Pope drinking water hose?  It is blue on the outside and has a white inner lining.  I've not had a taste problem.  Or was it a blue garden hose?

The one I got from Bunnings was the blue outside, white inside, drinking hose. Think it was Pope, expensive little bugger compared to the garden hoses, but I don't have issue with taste...

One more way to check to see if the hose will taint the water, is to smell the end of the hose.
You may get some weird looks in Bunnings, but if you can smell any plastic smells don't buy it.
The proper blue outer/ white inner drinking water hoses don't give off any Plastic smells and is the one to purchase. Don't buy the clear stuff.
